The reason she was meowing in pain and following him around is because the first kitten was breech. I suspected it when I first started reading and then I saw where he said he saw toes coming out. I had a cat once that did the very same thing. It was her first litter and the first baby was breech. Once the breech baby was out, she was just fine calmly laboring on her own and having the rest. It's so difficult and heart-wrenching to have the mom plaintively following you around and begging for some help. Usually animals will have the babies alright on their own, though, given time.

I just checked my home email this morning and was ROFL at the events unfolding.

I wish I'd a known, I would have called.

LOLOL!

My first kitten experience, oh so many years ago, the first baby was breach. Talk about panic. I called someone and they walked me through helping her.

It's just so amazing watching the little things being born.
