Doody

I'm so sorry, please keep us updated if you have time.

[It's sadly not uncommon to get a staph infection during orthopaedic surgery.]

Shocked

OMGosh... that is very frustrating.

Staph is very common these days in hospitals.
I hope the Vanco works. Staph can be very stubborn, and if it is MRSa, very hard to treat.

Sending positive thoughts to your Mom, Doody!

Sorry I haven't been able to respond! My computer at home is on the fritz so a techie guy here is going to fix it for me.

Mom's heart 'synched' itself.

I still don't know anymore about the how the vanco will be administered for 6 weeks. The infectious disease specialist said he wants it done 2x/day. He told mom and dad, you will be seeing a lot of me.

So, I guess they are checking into IF medicare will pay for a nurse to go to their home 2x/day to administer the vanco which takes about an hour each time to administer.

I won't know a thing about that until, well when he shows up again.

He had to leave in the middle of his talk yesterday because mom was having some kind of attack, probably the afib thing going on and of course her anxiety goes through the roof.

Mrs. D, I think the surgeon told us they had been dealing with the 'mild' form of staph so I don't think it is the more serious one you're talking about, though....I really am not sure at this point. I never seem to be there when the docs show up.
