Default Not what I expected!

I'm reading Elizabeth Edwards book Resilience and even though I'd seen her on Oprah's show talking about it...it isn't at all what I thought it would be.

She talks about losing their son Wade in an automobile accident when he was only 16 and the struggle she had coming to grips with his death...the questioning of her faith, the why God why...and she talks about being very active in an internet grief chat room..how all the people there held each other together and gradually came to "know" the person who had died...know through the sharing with complete strangers

Here is a woman of wealth, who has all the "means" for private counseling talking in a chatroom on the internet!

I'm sorry Addy....LOL. I haven't finished it yet but will tonight. I expected her to talk about her disappointment in her husband and his very public betrayal of her and their marriage vows. Do you know who he is? She is dying of breast cancer that has spread and she writes with such compassion and understanding of the trials in her life...I see no anger in her words but boy do I feel her pain. I will be quoting some from her book because it really struck a cord with me.

Now go enjoy your vacation. *grin

Oh YES, I do know who she is... I have watched some of her interviews - but not completely .... I got a good feeling that she knew who she was and what she was going to do with her time left on this earth.

I think we are so blessed when people speak out to the media about their sufferings... it makes us all so human... it allows us to see that we aren't the only ones with life challenges..

I'm glad she found a chat room... !!! Shows she's on a super healing path.... and ... sigh... I'm sad she's got so little time left...

Kinda reminds me of Randy Paugh... in a way...

we all have stuff in our lives... don't let anyone fool ya, eh?!

1 1/2 days until vacation and I'm so hot I don't have the energy to do so much right now...

We're experiencing a heat wave that has only happened twice since 1928 - 40 degrees Celcius....

sleeping has been cool here for me, tho.. thanks Lord!

xoxoxo Alfeeeee... keep reading!

Speaks highly of the bonds one forms on the internet doesn't it? I don't find this shocking at all. There were many resources available to me, here is the only place I felt safe enough to share.

I am finding the same things with Lynn's Alzheimer's. I tried to go to the support groups, but it is different. I can't stand to cry in public. Yet how can you not when dealing with such raw emotions? It is much easier for me to express myself online; where my heart can be wide open in sharing my emotions, but where the computer screen protects me from others seeing it.

I will have to add this book to my read list. Thanks for sharing
