People ARE trying to make a difference!
http://www.nkm2.org/ Founder's Message We are mad as hell, and we're not going to take this anymore!! Please join us as we educate souls everywhere to "REMOVE THE STIGMA!" Joe Pantoliano Founder & President ............................................. The site is full of information, it is a bit blunt, but I like that Here is what is written under their about us page. Mission No Kidding, Me Too! is an organization whose purpose is to remove the stigma attached to brain dis-ease through education and the breaking down of societal barriers. Our goal is to empower those with brain dis-ease to admit their illness, seek treatment, and become even greater members of society. The Goal Make Brain Dis-ease cool and sexy. We want a normal conversation in America to be: "I have bipolar disorder/schizophrenia/insert dis-ease" "No Kidding, Me Too!" Who Has The Stigma: Those suffering from brain dis-eases including anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating, pyromania, kleptomania, compulsive gambling, addictions, paranoia, multiple personality disorder, gender identity disorder, Down's syndrome, psychosomatic disorder, traumatic brain injury (TBI), tic disorders, and others. How Will NKMT Accomplish This? • Create strategic partnerships with members of industry, academia, organizations and government to ensure a broad-based spectrum of support and input. • Organize the creative talents of our industry professionals to generate messages for various media and use our celebrity status to ensure these messages are heard. The messages will be of empowerment and acceptance and can include topics as basic as giving job opportunities to those with a brain dis-ease. • Coordinate, participate in and generate interest for national and regional educational events consistent with our goal.

I am very torn up after reading about The Bridge. I am trying very hard to be open minded......but I find I can't. I just feel so very bad for the families that lost loved ones on that film. It would destroy me to see that.
I believe with all my heart that suicide must be talked about, taken out of the darkness. I am just not sure about this being a good avenue. I know first hand that people kill themselves, I also know people are raped and murdered, I don't care to watch it though......... the thought sickens me honestly.

I understand what you are saying... I really do. For me... I "stand", right now, where those who jumped off the bridge were standing.... I have been leaning in and out against "the rails" for a long time. I really don't know what it is that is making me want to see this movie... but it is a powerful feeling. I feel really bad and have a deep hurt inside of me for everyone that has ever lost someone to suicide. I do understand as much as I can. I'm sorry if my words hurt anyone...that is the last thing I would ever want to do... Abbie
