Happy to read more good news from your update, Alffe.
I received a postcard today from Moi, written while he was waiting for the pre-op appointment last week. It has pictures of colourful butterflies on it and just this week I was taking photos of butterflies at our Gardens and loving my new digital camera. Here are a few for Moi and Moss ...

Thanks for the butterflies, Scrabble - Moi and I are huge butterfly fans ...we planted a whole section of our yard with plants that are supposed to attract butterflies last fall. We haven't seen too many yet...but still watching... Your photo's are just beautiful! |

To one and all...
Thank you all so much for the concern and love so beautifully expressed through emails, voicemails, posts, calls and prayers. We treasure each and every one of you. My Moi is doing a little better each day. His surgery successfully eliminated the pain, numbness and weakness in his arms and legs. The surgical pain is intense but we know is temporary. The pain pump they put him on yesterday (after a harrowing first night) is letting him be in control and works great. He is sleeping alot (making up for a long time) and isn't yet up to reading or talking, but I have relayed all the messages to him and he smiles that adorable dimpled smile of his. He has alot of swelling inside his neck and this is probably the most irritating thing since his pain is better, since it interferes with swallowing and breathing, but this is normal and not so bad as to be a major problem - just something to watch and deal with. He accidently pulled out the drain from the front incision (ouch!) because he is a wiggle worm, but the one in the back incision will remain until Sunday or Monday. The doc thinks Moday is the earliest he will go home. I am taking extra good care of my honey and keeping a close eye on things. I am staying in his room on a recliner (ugh) but feel better doing so than wondering how he is from a distant bed somewhere else. Since I am terribly directionally challenged, I have taken to drawing maps on scrap paper since this hospital is so huge and unfamiliar. I have yet to smoothly find my way to and from my car or the dining area. Thank God for nice strangers, or I would still be wandering about. I will try to keep you updated in the days to come and one of these days you will likely get a message from my Moi. |

Keeping you both in my prayers. I'm so happy to hear the surgery was successful and Moi is on the road to recovery. You've both got lots of prayers and positive thoughts behind you. Just take it one day at a time and enjoy the small miracles.

Update on my Moi....
He will be staying in the hospital a few more days since the swelling in his neck has gotten worse, making it very difficult to swallow. It is a pretty panicky feeling when even the saliva won't go down. The doc said this is not unexpected considering the extent of the surgery and will start him on some meds to help reduce the swelling. He is otherwise progressing...walking on his own, and humoring me and the staff. We even had a movie date last night - watching "Next" (Nicholas Cage) on the computer. Moi sends his love and gratitude to our forum family, as do I. Hugs and butt squeezes for the broom. |
