Default Asymptomatic Tarlov Cyst

New member here. I've been trying to read up on tarlov cysts, but I haven't found any consistent information on the websites. It's unusual because I've read that 88% of those affected are females; I'm male.

I found out that I had a 1.5 cm tarlov cyst on my left S2 nerve a few weeks ago. It was an incidental finding on my MRI... It was actually missed on my MRI 5 years ago. So I've had this tarlov cyst for at least 5 years. Have no idea what caused it, because I'm only 25 and haven't had any trauma to the back. I got the MRIs for something completely unrelated. The neurosurgeon I talked to said that I may have been born with it.

I've been reading many of the users' posts, and I sympathize with all of you that are going through this. I've been lucky enough to have no symptoms from my tarlov cyst, yet. I'm just paranoid now and I wonder almost daily when the symptoms will begin.

Are there any of you out there that are asymptomatic?

Default Hi

Hi,
I'm 32 years old. A week ago a tarlov cyst was finded in my s1-s2.
I have some symtoms. But there is a really low pain, not a big deal.
I want to know if you already have symptoms or you are OK since the cyst was detected.

According to research, many people have Tarlov cysts yet have no symptoms. A traumatic event, like a fall or impact injury, can cause an asymptomatic cyst to become symptomatic.
