We had about 100 students graduate from class in 80. (small school) there were some no so nice girls in the class who thought themselves above others. Some not so nice boys who thought themselves too cool, and bullet proof. Its always nice to see the class high riding, name calling hotty has turned into a 350 pound cake eating fat arsed, 4x divorced, spandex wearing, cutie who now lives in the dumpy trailor park that she was so famous for making fun of. She failed out of Community college because there were no flunkies to do her home work for her, and run her errands. She was too busy sucking on the boys to worry about homework and after two years of failing grades, mom, and dad yanked her out to bag groceries at the local Piggly Wiggly. She got preggers, and the rest was history. I dont mean to be unkind, but it felt kinda good to show up, and be well educated, drive a nice car, have money in my pocket, be able to afford the flight back home (first class) and then...I saw her. It broke my heart. I simply couldnt hold hate in my heart for a woman who fell so far off of her glittered ladder to the stars. The only emotion that I could come up with was that I wanted to pray for her. I tucked a hundred dollars in her pocket book, and can only hope that she used it for food, or medicine. I never went back to another reunion.

Since then more than half of my class has died. Car accidents. shootings, drug over doses, and diseases. Even that beauty queen I spoke of. She died from complications after gastric bypass. She was hooked on the pain pills, and OD on vicoden and booze. I will never regret my choice to forgive her that day.

I am happy to see that others had a more positive experience in school than I did.

The excitement and anticipation of going to the reunion party was to see and talk with those I don't have access to - now I can find out what they are up to every time I login..........Hmmmmm not sure what I feel about that
Amy, I thought it made it better. There are a number of people I graduated with whom I connected with on FB. At least then you will be able to recognize them, because some people change a LOT in 40 years!

There were two girls who looked really funny and one had a medical problem that made her smell funny. Many treated them unkindly. I didn't but am sorry I never came to their defense either.

My dad just recently went to his 50th high school reunion (would last fall be considered "recent"?) He said he had a great time. He took pictures of everyone, emailed the pictures to the girl who would have been taking the pictures if she'd remembered her camera, and she got all the photographs organized for people who wanted copies. She even had them printed out for everyone and didnt even take any money for them (it was a class of 90 people, and I think just less than half showed up)

At least my parents went to schools that had civilized students attending with them. By the time I got to high school (late 1980s) something had changed in the world and kids in high school were only slightly more civilized than a prison riot. (I wonder if the guy in high school who did something <not too horrible, but bad enough> to me that I had to report him to the vice principal for is on any sexual offenders lists yet? I should go google his name)
Erin, I'm sorry the kids in your school were so rough.

There were the typical stuck-ups in my class, but at the reunion they were all very nice. Maybe they changed, or maybe it was false. All I know is that I had a great time and, if able, will go back for my 50th!

My High School, at an all girls, catholic school, was ok. I had fun, was in a sorority and semi popular, but I don't have the need to go back and see any of them.

My Friend just called and wondered if I was going to go to our grade school's 55th reunion.. .. Now that I may attend, LOL. ..Although a bunch of my closest friends died and died young, not just recently..

Just attending with my dearest Friend, from the 4th grade, would be a blast..

It's not just the craptastic way that I was treated by the other students when I went to that school. It's what students from that school did to my aunt for about 10+yrs.

I lived 4 blocks from my high school. My aunt lived 3 blocks from it, and she was on the corner of a busy street. Kids from my high school, while I was still attending there, started stealing stuff from her yard.

The thefts and occasional vandalism continued until my aunt moved out. (we moved at the same time, and now my aunt and I live across the street from each other) The new owners are now the new victims of the kids from that high school. (oh, and it's been 20yrs since I graduated)

Last year, my cousin met a girl who had gone to my school. (the girl graduated probably 10yrs after I did) Somehow, in conversation this girl started boasting how she and her brother had stolen a cement elephant and a cement angel from my cousin's front yard. (not realizing that was where my cousin grew up)

My cousin told the girl "that was my house." and the girl said "you lived in the "Burke House"?!?". (they'd named the house after my high school apparently)

What I think happened, is the kids who were stealing from my aunt taught their younger brothers and sisters, and it somehow has become a tradition. The younger kids have no idea why they're stealing from there, they just think it's fun.

I'm pretty sure that my cousin told that girl what kind of pain they caused by stealing my aunt's yard decorations. Especially the angels. My uncle was dying, and he had bought the cement angels for my aunt and cousins. After he was gone, the angels became very special to my aunt and cousins. When they were stolen, it really hurt them.

I'm pretty sure the stealing started when kids I went to school with noticed that I would walk there after school some days. They probably thought I lived there and focused their harassment on the house because of me. So, this is another reason I want nothing to do with anyone I went to school with at that school.

Sally, I've never heard of a grade school reunion. I also attended a catholic grade school and high school, and most of those in my GS went to my HS.

I think you would have a lot of fun with your friend from fourth grade! If you go, we want pictures!!

My Dad was in the AF and we moved a LOT. I didn't really keep any close friendships until we finally settled down. I have one friend from grade school who I still keep in touch with and two close high school friends. I was tall and gawky and shy and got picked on a lot cause I was the new girl. After HS I found myself, and I just started having all the fun I should have had back then. I didn't have children or marry, and traveled and worked on rivers all over the country and just had a good time!

I went to my 30th HS reunion (sort of) My two friends and I refused to pay the huge price set for it. We just showed up after we ate somewhere else and drank for a few hours... By the time we arrived, we couldn't stop laughing! That was the best part of the whole night.

It was so strange to see all these OLD people we didn't know who we purportedly went to school with! People kept coming up to me and telling me how I hadn't changed at all and I would have to ask who they were and how I knew them! Even after them trying to refresh my memory, I didn't know who they were.

I wish I could say it was fun, but it was sad. There was no feeling of nostalgia or cameraderie for me. There were no old flames or crushes who I wanted to see again. So many of the "popular" crowd looked rode hard and put up wet, or brittle and fake, as they did in their younger years. You could honestly smell the failure in the air, as some of them tried to recapture their youth and be who they were back in the day.

I was happy to be with the two true friends that I had back then, but we get together every time I go back there and we spend vacations together every year. The rest of the class meant nothing to me when I left town and still don't. I envy those of you who had a good experience in high school. All I wanted was to get out and once I did, I was gone.
