Senator Edward Kennedy died last night. Brain cancer was the official cause of death. He fought a brave battle, and fought hard to the last.
RIP.

Thanks Dej, as you know I am a Kennedy fan from wayyyy back. Ted was only 31, when his Brother John was shot in the head and killed and only 33, when his Brother Robert was shot in the head and killed. It's Ironic that he should die from a brain injury as well...and remember, their Father had a brain stroke..
He previously lost a Sister and a Brother in air plane crashes, during WW11, lost his Nephew in an Air Crash and he had suffered a broken back, but lived, after an Air plane crash.. They certainly weren't saints and because of their wealth and liberalism, were hated by many and loved by many, but their contribution to this world will and should not ever be forgotten. Teddy served 47 yrs. valiantly, in the Senate, taking his Brother John's seat, when John became President. Even though, I don't know the Kennedys, personally, I feel like I lost another Family member. I pray that, even though you sinned, you have earned, through your good deeds, a place in heaven, Teddy..

Yep, it's on the news every ten seconds here, he was definitely a local legend.
When I visited the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy rose garden in Boston, I was profoundly struck by the number of children she lost in her lifetime, I had never seen it from that perspective. I'm just young enough that most of the Kennedy history is muddled with popcicles and two-wheelers, but the name is certainly a monument in this nation. RIP, Ted.

I've never had a good opinion of Ted Kennedy, cant stand the guy and most of his family, but, that being said, I've known a couple of people who died from the same cancer that he had. Not a good death. I feel bad that he and his family had to go thru that to get to his last day.
That's a cancer that really needs a cure. It's a horrible death.

We received an invitation to go to Hyannisport. We have decided to go. The family has always been good to my family. I wasnt sure if I wanted to go, but the DH has talked me into it.

Kennedy was a man who devoted his life to public service; despite wealth and dynasty. To judge this man - if one feels they're in a position to do so - one has to understand what he's actually fought for and accomplished in this last half century. It's epic, and we've benefited from his efforts more than many realize. He sought compromise. He's someone reknown for working across the aisle, and is deeply respected by leading members in both parties. He will be missed.

What a beautful day in Mass. for the procession to the JFK library in Boston.
