Oooh, yes, I do hope our CA friends are okay.
Utah has fires, too. The smoke is so thick today I can't even see the sun.

We are getting haze and smoke from the fires. I looked out the window first thing this morning and couldn't see the mountains.
I won't be hanging laundry out or being out any longer than I have to.

It's so sad to hear of these wild fires and the sadness/devastation that spreads w/them. It's happening all too often....

Sally, I know this is a little off topic but while watching BBAD I heard Jordan say she smelled smoke the other night. I wonder how close they are to LA or if they are in LA?
Prayers going up for everyone in the area.

its coming very close to some LA treasures. The Fire Fighters say its no longer "angry" its just now "crabby" with the high humidity, and the fire lines, it looks like they may have a shot at controlling it.

HI guys,
Wea re safe and not close to the fires although DH's work si closer and ash is falling and the smoke is thick out there. But the news put the station fire into perspective for me last night. They said the fire is the size of Chicago, not downtown but all of Chicagoland. Its is 200 sq miles of fire...that is just insane. They also said one flank was 93 miles long. God Bless those fire fighters. |

I don't know how they stand the heat with all that equipment and thick uniforms and jackets.
I saw on the news last night that people are refusing to evacuate and trying to assist the firefighters. What causes these fires to happen? They happen way to often in the same areas. I just pray that everyone emerges from this safe and unharmed. Material things can be replaced but lives cannot.

my husband is a fire fighter. used to do it pro, and now volunteers. its VERY hot in those jackets, and all that gear. he used to be ringing wet when he would come home. I would ask if he got doused by the hose, and he said "i wish!" As the EMT/MEdic on staff for the local fire house, I am the one that would take their BP and heart rate as they came out of a burning building with an empty air tank. Unless they could come back to normal standards, I would refuse them a fresh air tank. The adrenaline gets pumping, and they just want to go go go.
I just heard the CA fires were set by men. isnt that sad? I also hear alot that CA wont allow home owners to clear brush from around some mountain ranges. There is something about endangered animals that live in those brushy areas, and they will be run off or killed by the clean up of the brush they live in. Anyone else hear that? I dont know how true it is. STill in my prayers CA.
