here's a antenna info site, that helps you find the best antenna direction for your home - just enter your location and go from there.
http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/Address.aspx this has more good info on antenna and dtv- http://www.hdtvinfoport.com/TV-Antenna.html http://www.dtv.gov/fixreception.html If you have hills, large buildings, or tall trees between you and the tv towers - those all interfere with the digital signal. we have problems when it is very windy, heavy rain or snowing. those things interfere with the signal too. we have a roof top antenna for the living room tv, and rabbit ears for the bedrooms. reception is good unless the weather interferes. we are about 25 miles from most of the towers. we are behind the side of 1 hill but it think the signal can get around it, and there are 40' tall fir trees across the street but the don't seem to bother unless the wind is a factor- moving them around.

I don't have one of those boxes but my mome does...she got it because she has a dish and in bad weather she looses reception and always had her areal as a back up to get the local chanels. well she had to get that converted box for her areal and now when there is bad weather not only does she loose the pic on her dish but the areal as well.

We've not gone fully digital here yet, that happens next year, but I'm finding similar problems with the digital stations we do have already.
We have a converter box and mostly the digital stations work well, but get a windy day and you can forget it; and the windy day doesn't even have to be in our area.... it can be anywhere along the path that the digital cables use. I'm not sure whether all our stations will be affected in the same way when we officially change over, but I guess time will tell.

I read some postings about having pixel (picaso paintings) on the digital cable. A decent tech can fix that rather easily. I am a tech for a cable company if anyone has questions.

Momma - DBF and I did that this weekend. We hooked up some speakers to the laptop and watched documentaries online.
The weirdest thing happened last week. I had another one of those don't want to think to much nights and didn't think anything would come in on the tv as there was a thunderstorm; rain, high winds, etc. But I turned the tv on anyhow as Nova was supposed to come on. Low and behold I got all channels in just fine. The dang thing works better in storms. LOL |
