Heck, I had no idea people like that existed until I met Jim and his mom ironed pillow cases and sheets. If they came out too wrinkled she re-washed them. She once told me she ironed their undies and pajamas too. I asked her if she afraid that if a fire broke out the neighbors would see they weren't ironed? I think that's the day she started disliking me. haha

Was I suppose to iron my sheets to prove I really had worth as a woman? Silly me, concentrating on life and children.

Growing up, my mother did not have help to clean the house (like most of the mothers in her group) but she did have Amanda, who would iron all the clothes for us five kids. She came in one day a week and ironed all day in front of the TV in the spare room.

DM would put the pillowcases in the freezer. It must have had something to do with the fact that permanent press had not been invented.

My Mom put things on occasion in the freezer too!! Already wet clothes so they wouldn't mildew?? Sometimes she let me iron the handkerchiefs. She used a glass soda bottle full of water and covered top with her thumb so she could sprinkle and wet clothes. A man drove his truck full of fruits and vegetable onto our street and sold them. Another drove to street and sharpened scissors. We had a Fuller Brush man we knew.

My mother ironed everything possible that could be ironed.

Growing up she taught me to iron and explained how I am to iron my
Father's undershorts, hankies, socks, shirts, pants, etc. Explaining someday
I will get married and this is what I will have to do for my DH.

The first time my DH caught me ironing his shorts, he asked why was I
doing that and I said that was what I was taught by DM and he said you are
crazy. "I put them on and in one minute they are wrinkled and who is going
to see them except "YOU" I laughed so hard that I never ironed his underclothes again. He even made me stop ironing his hankies, because he
just put them in his pants pockets.

It is something how the different generations are taught different things.
I jumped with happiness when I got my first Dryer. Permant Press Clothes
in and out of dryer before you know it.

Now I don't know where my iron is, it is around somewhere, hiding like
a statue.

Ironing underwear is going a little too far. LOL

I don't iron much anymore. When I was working I did. But now, my wardrobe consists of pj pants and cheap t-shirts that I get in the men's section at Target. LOL

My mom ironed all table linens, our church clothes if needed, my dad's hankies, and when she was sewing. With 10 kids she didn't have much time for ironing ALL of our underwear. Seriously, that would be 84 pairs of underwear to iron a week. :eek::D

For my underwear, I guess my butt pulls all the wrinkles out!!:D:D:D

Iron is a four letter word. I'm surpised it doesn't come up on here as ****.

I just thank God for whomever invented Wrinkle Releaser spray!!!!! If I spray it on my shirt and pants before I get in the shower, they'll be dry and mostly wrinkle-free by the time I go to get dressed. I actually kind of enjoy ironing, but it is physically uncomfortable now.
