Default WOW, who'd a thunk it...

I got up early today to go to a rummage sale a friend had to raise money for MS. Got home about 2 and was resting when I realized I hadn't eaten anything but a donut at the sale.

I was about to go to the corner to get a burger form DQ when I looked in our pantry, buried deep in the pantry were some air-crisp crackers. I then looked in the fridge and found some salmon spread from the bagel shop.

I had a really nice snack. Amazing what you find when you look in your own kitchen, I gotta do that more often.

It's amazing what those packages and containers have in them. I confess that I sometimes look at all of them and think, "I have to find something to eat." But if I put my mind to it, there's usually something I can whip up from the contents of my pantry.

Your snack sounds yummy. I am, however, really looking for a chocolate fix right now.

Oh but I DO get a craving for a McDonald's cheeseburger every once in a while. And nothing else will do BUT a McD's cheeseburger.

I did say that I was NOT going to eat a McDonalds or Burger King when in Wales and I didn't. It just seemed wrong to come back to the US and have people ask what you did over there and to say, "Ate at McD's and BK, drank beer, and watched sheepherding."

ROFL you're cracking me up woman!

But don't you ever get a craving for one of those, get all excited, get there, get said greasy dripping burger in hand, bite down, and then think "Ewww". Like, it was overcooked or the bun sucks or whatever. Then you get all because it wasn't half as good as you remember it being the last time?

That was my last Harvey's veggie burger experience. I figured it would be win win getting the Angus Burger fancy bun with my veggie burger. Bun was sub par for 20 cents more, and I swear they cooked that veggie burger for an hour, it was so dry.

Ok, I'll bite (pun intended): WTH is a Harvey's veggie burger? (and yes, I know that Harvey was a 6' tall rabbit who wore a hat with holes cut out for his ears)

I love a good veggie burger. Could be a vegetarian except that I really, really love a good med-rare steak sometimes. As Jane on Couplings said, I'm a bi-vegetarian--I eat meat when I want. OMG..... too funny....

Ho boy.... you said it about the buns. And sometimes I get a McD's Big and Tasty and they slather it with loads of mayo and kill it.

Laura, next time order your veggie burger medium rare.

Ever see the Far Side cartoon that shows the cavemen coming out of the forest with a huge carrot held over their heads? The caption reads: Early vegetarians after the hunt.

Harvey's is another chain here. Maybe it's Canada only? I dunno.. but their veggie burger is usually decent. Nothing like home made mind you, but def. ok. I honestly can't get past the buns. I eat all whole wheat bread now, and the ONLY place in town that's fast food that WILL do whole wheat bread for me is Burger King.

Incidentally, Burger King's veggie burger is Try sandpaper texture, and so thin, I'm fairly certain the lettuce (which usually has brown spots on the edges) weighs more than the patty.

Yeah what's with the excessive freaking condiments anyways? The amount they put on it sometimes, it's like they're painting the Sistine Chapel. Subway's the WORST for this. "A little lettuce please". Next thing you know, your sub's 98% lettuce. "A little light mayo". They empty half the bottle on it. Pizza places are no better, "Light on the cheese". Next thing you know, you have a 10 pound pizza consisting of 9.5 pounds of cheese.

Yes @ Far Side. LMAO!!!

Could be a Canada thing. I walked around a mall in Edmonton and marveled at the sheer number of different stores you guys have there compared to here. A friend of mine who lived in Edmonton knew the U.S. equivalents, which was totally odd to me, so I saw familiar things but different names.

Never tried BK's veggie burger. That just seems weird. And I love whole wheat--but have fallen hard for whole grain stuff.

YOu gotta get the British Couplings TV show on DVD and watch it. You'd love it. Jane's demented.

Now maybe there's a condiment conspiracy theory out there. I love when you get black olives at Subway and they put about 3 on your sub. I've been known to look at them and ask if they could spare them.

Better finish my Guinness and go make my bed. My pinkie hurts where I wacked it today and bloodied it. Got it all over my shirt too. Reminded me of ketchup (loose tie-in with condiments here). Which is good, of course, on eggs (ketchup not blood).

Of course, Ketchup (alternate spelling: catsup) is in my refrigerator at home (getting back to Earl's thread).

Which fits in well with my eggs, brownie, and ketchup breakfast as it's shaping up.

Depends. IF you drink the Guinness BEFORE you make the bed you're surely not going to spill the Guinness on the sheets. If you drink the Guinness in bed.....well there is the possibility that you could spill it IN BED and that would be a total waste (except that I have a waterproof mattress pad which would still allow me to slurp my Guinness through the sheets). Hmmm..... cotton filtered Guinness.
