Default I'm looking for Christmas ideas

And found this site. Just thought I'd post it - sorry if it needs to be moved, but thought there's a couple people who would see it sooner here.

http://www.favecrafts.com/

Not tons of patterns, but they're free and some are pretty nice.

Thanks for reminding me I need to start finding more recipes for eggs. DD has decided now that I have mastered the art of blowing out eggs that we will be decorating shells and hanging them from the Tree this year.

I am making no sew blankets and beaded ornaments. I have the materials and beads but waiting on the scissors I ordered. I think in some ways it cost me more to do this. haha

It does cost you more to do this. And then you end up with what I have. DH2B's DD made him the coolest no sew fleece blanket last year for Christmas. It has the army emblem on one side and I think a giant eagle on the other side. It is still in the closet, no one is allowed to touch it.

I'm crocheting a giant granny square afghan (one big, neverending granny square). I'm also knitting a ton of scarves. (technically, I'm purling them...cant do the knit stitch with my numb fingers right now, but doing garter stitch with purl looks just like garter stitch with the knit stitch.)

I have a pattern on my crochet blog for a rectangle granny square. My grandmother and I came up with it. (ok, grandma did most of the pattern. I helped by testing the pattern and suggesting changes.. She never wrote it down, she and I both had it memorized tho...I wrote down the pattern after she died and posted it to my blog. I wrote it down because I started having problems remembering how to start it...the MS probably had something to do with that now that I think of it)

The rectangle pattern is one that works up fairly quickly and pretty much any yarn can be used for it. (as long as your fingers on the hand you do your yarnovers with are capable of doing the yarnovers)

If you crochet or knit, a good place to go to search for patterns is Ravelry.com

About.com has a good crochet forum, and a good knitting forum. Lots of helpful people ready to suggest projects to people.

Oh, and Crochetville.com is another good place to go for suggestions if you crochet.

I use right hand for the hook, left hand holds fabric and moves the yarn. I keep reading this is the English method.

I have no idea how to hook and YO with the same hand though (US method). I am not that coordinated lol.

I am going to start on cowls - sort of a wide scarf, but joined at the ends. So you can use as a scarf or over the head too, if you don't wear hats.
