Received notices from health services for three more students with the flu. I would really like to send all of the students home for a few weeks I have heard that the elementary and middle schools here are getting hit pretty hard. Doctors here are suggesting that even if you have had the flu you should still get the vaccine (if it is ever available) due to a possible mutation in the future months.

So DD came home from school today and announced 6 kids were out sick today (out of 25) just in her classroom. There was another girl that should have been out sick but her mom sent her to school anyway. The girl said she couldn't stay home because her mom had to go to work. She was sitting in the classroom shivering and shaking. The teacher eventually made her go to the nurses office. I just hope whatever she has that was making her shake like that (I am assuming she had a high fever) wasn't contagious and that she didn't just infect the rest of the class. There is a girl in the classroom that just got over major surgery so you know her immune system is down. It just angers me that the mother sent her daughter to school knowing she was that sick.

As we enter spring/summer, the issue seems to have settled for us and no doubt there is a stockpile of 20million or so vaccs somewhere going to waste. I don't know a single person who's had the jab.
You guys are in a state of emergency I hear??? !!!

my neuro talked me into a flu shot yesterday!

There were signs all over the hospital that the clinics for flu shots were canceled or closed. lack of vaccine has prevented many from getting one. When the MD offered one up I pointed to the closed clinic sign. He said ALL immune compromised patients NEED one! then waggled his finger at me, and indicated that it meant ME!

I have never had a flu shot before. NEver felt the need. Holy moley this guy meant business. I explained that I am not out working, I am not in the public, and I am not a high exposure. Why not save the dose for someone who is. He said "do you go to the grocery store?" I said well, yeah. He rambled on about how many silly mothers who are forced to take the day off to stay home with a sick flu ridden child WILL take this as a chance to catch up on errands, and hit the dry cleaner, supermarket, Target, and other very public places, instead of keeping their child home and quiet. The child is coughing and dripping on the carriage or counter tops and you come along behind her.

Please keep your kids HOME if they are sick! Why cant some parents get that? I know many jobs are at risk and many bosses dont understand, and if you have one of those bosses, get a SITTER! have her on standby.

its a bad bad flu season this year. Worse than I thought.

We were at the veteran's hospital and they didn't have the h1N1 vaccine either. I thought for sure a government hospital would have it but no they didn't. They don't know when it they'll get them in. Strange.

I'm sure she got the reg flu shot, since she just got over the HiNi flu.

I got the regular shot, and he said he would call me back in whent he H1N1 gets to his office. I explained that I already had the H1N1 and he said he wanted me to get the shot anyway. I am not so sure I am gonna go in for that one.

If my kids were elementary school I'd probably steal H1N1 Flu Shots if I had too. At HS age, I think I should try to get for them (In a correct way!). I'm fairly isolated here with current weather as am in a chair, but do see others sometimes. I don't know. DH out and about a lot, he should get. I can't have them coming home and making me sick. They are getting HS absences at HS.

Yes, I've heard this time and time again. Even though a person was confirmed that they had the H1N1 flu, they want to give you the shot for that. I can't figure that one out.
