My dog was funny (in a ha-ha way). He was a drama queen. Whenever he had a problem, he didnt just have a simple problem, he had to have a lot of drama to go along with it. If he was sick, he didnt just go and sleep his way thru it...he'd come up to me for sympathy. With a look that said "I dont feel good...scratch my ears! Now!" (if you want to see what he looked like, look at the dog in my avatar...that's Tiny)

It was great to watch him pretty much act like a puppy until about two weeks before he died (at the age of nine...old for a dog of his breed and size) He'd chase leaves across the lawn, because he had an overactive chase instinct...and he'd pretty much make himself look completely silly and fall all over himself to get a puppy to come up to him to say hi. He loved puppies, he probably would have made a pretty good mommy if we'd ever had another dog. (TinyMonsters had about 3 or 4 different dog personalities in him...which is why he had an "s" at the end of his name...he was plural. There was more than one "monster" inside of him)

I miss TinyMonsters now pretty badly, but I do not miss the copious amounts of vomit and...gaseous emissions that he produced. I really love the big dogs, but geeze, when they get sick they're not as easy to clean up after like a small dog is. Plus, you can pick up the little dogs and carry them outside or put them in the bathtub when they're ill...big dogs are a lot harder to move and I swear they can manipulate the forces of gravity to make themselves heavier when they dont want to move...at least TinyMonsters could.

I miss having a dog, but at least my aunt just recently got a new Pug (named Stella. She's a black pug, and I swear she's got Tiny's personality along with my aunt's previous pug's personality living inside her, along with her own personality...what's with the multiple personality dogs??) and I can now get my dog "fix" from Stella and not have to deal with the gross things a dog can do. I already had to do a Doggy ER visit with Stella a few weeks ago. She had an allergic reaction to a bee. I thought I'd never see the inside of the Doggy ER again. (Tiny went there a lot. Dogs always seem to get sick at the most inconvenient times, or at 4am when you're trying to sleep) At least that time, it wasnt 4am, and I didnt have to drag a 100 pounds of sick dog into the waiting room....not having to pay for the insanely expensive vet care was nice too. I just went to hold the dog and show my aunt how to get there. (BTW, Stella is fine now...she's a good puppy!)

Great post. I could really relate to it. On the up side, DH works from home so he is the one cleaning up the gack most of the time.

One of my cats had been a gacker from the time she was just a itty bitty kitten. Once she demanded to go outside when it was dark and all the bobcats and coyotes are looking for a meal.

I let her out but followed her to our dirt path where she reeled around like a cat possessed by a demon. Her enormous gack was outside.

But that was only one gack out of a decade + of "memories."

We got brown colored carpet, perfect for the gacking feline species.

I'm sorry about your arm . I have five cats so I can relate to everyone's 'yacking' stories .

My son has perfected the sound of cat yacking! He will hide and make that noise just to see the look on my face ! He thinks it's hysterical until he gets puke cleaning duty for a week . Mom always gets the last laugh!

I started buying my dry cat food by judging how easy the color is to get out of my rugs . The multicolored stuff is the worst.

yes, canned (and partially digested) pet food is more difficult to clean up than the dry (partially digested) pet food is. Did you know that most canned pet foods, except for the "gravy" types, at least for dogs, is just dry pet food that's been soaked in liquid and then canned?

We ended up having to feed TinyMonsters several small meals during the day, rather than one huge meal, so that his tummy could digest his food quicker. Less ralphing on the white carpeting with his head hiding in the corner.

The other thing we did, which will sound weird, but we started taking his dry dog food and soaking it in water in the refrigerator. For one thing, cheaper than buying canned food. And it was apparently easier for him to digest food that was already saturated in water...instead of having a huge pile of dry food in there. (bouviers are prone to something called bloat...also known as gastric torsion. He had a few close calls with bloat, so we tried to do everything we could to avoid a true case of bloat, which is usually fatal to dogs)

Tiny was so food oriented that he'd just go whacko when he saw his food, or a snack nearby. I think that food was what made him the happiest...except for snacks and a nice long walk after dinner. I never realized dogs could smile until we got Tiny.

I think he also had a weird joy in making a mess and watching his humans freak out that he just made a mess. He'd sit with a bemused look on his face, head tilted to the side, watching us clean up after him...probably thinking he had his humans trained well, and proud that he could make us do his bidding. If he was human, he probably would have been a practical joker.

Is there a Mom or pet owner who does not know Yack up close and personal?
