I agree with TwoCats, RW. It seems to me that most mean behavior is rooted in jealousy. Even when we can't always see what may cause the jealousy. I'll never understand why some people behave this way . Frankly, I don't even want to understand.

I have a few of these types in my family too. I just do my best to avoid them. They just aren't worth wasting my energy on.

I hope everything works out for your family member and for you (dealing with the jerks) .

I was lucky enough not to have any jerks in my Family, although my DDH's DM and Sis came close. Pretentious is what I would call them.

Oh, wait, maybe I'm the jerk..

Been there, still there. I don't have advice, just hugs.

My relative and I finally talked today. The crew left, her house is clean and EMPTY and done and she LOVES it! She said the whole experience was a positive one for her, she had me laughing, telling me how hard it was to watch what she said since everything was being filmed...

She had to give up a few things that meant the world to her, but realized that in the end, they are just things and that the memories that went with them will still be there. She got a lot in return, had the biggest yard sale the city had ever seen, and the Salvation Army made out very well with what was left after the yard sale. She's worn out and excited about sleeping in her own room tonight!

We had a blast laughing about the comments in the paper and came to the same conclusions when we guessed at who was who when we compared notes on the nasty posts! She's taking them all with a grain of salt, and agrees that most were motivated by jealousy, greed, spite and just plain bitterness. She's not letting them get her down, and enjoyed watching who came to the yard sale and what they bought. The church roof didn't fall in on the meanies (they had to have the yard sale at her church since there wasn't enough room or parking at her house!) and she's sworn that she will NEVER let material things get out of control again.

Thanks for all the comments. In a way it's nice to know that I am NOT the only person with bile green and puke yellow people for family. I do feel sorry for them, but I feel sorry for us more!

The show will be on in the spring. I'll let you know when. I can't say any more since it holds legal ramifications for her.

I told her to come here and read the posts and she will be here when she gets some sleep and her PC is hooked back up! She's been here before, on the RSD and FM boards! (cause she's such a smahhhht lady!)

For her when she gets here... Love ya SPC!

Thumbs Up

Oh my gosh, what a good and fast way to get rid of lots of stuff. Tell her I'm a bit envious. I have to sort through all my stuff manually, lol. I look forward to seeing her when the show airs.

I'm glad everyone (who matters) is enjoying the new freedom of less stuff and the excitement of the show & all the help! I need to get rid of clutter myself, but having come from a family of packrats, this could take some time . All in all, what a great experience this must have been!

Great big to her!

I'm sure it was tough, but I KNOW how good it feels once it's done.

I felt ten tons lighter when I cleaned all that junk out of my life too. I think about it now before I bring anything home.

Dh now... he's another matter. Gotta keep an eye on him lol.
