Default Today I lost a good friend

We have what we call 'The old nurses club' Most of us are either retired or on disability, only a couple of them still working. But we are still 'old' according to the age of most nurses. We try to meet frequently just to catch up and have fun. One of the ladies is just the most terrific cook on the face of the earth. She is married to a research pharmacist who happened to get early onset Parkinson's many years ago. So we have seen him deteriorate through the years. But he would still come to the table as we were getting ready to eat and give the prayer. We live in Evansville, in. She has a daughter in Indy and two in Nashville so they bought a house down there. She will finally get some help in caring for her dear husband. But we are sorry to see her leave. She was the glue that kept us together. We tried to alternate homes but we always ventured back to her home. When we would go out to a restaurant you can't stay long and only a few would show up. We will miss you Carolyn

Maybe you could do webcams, and have *nettogethers*?

Skype is a WONDERFUL thing! I talk to italy, Ireland, England, and Australia all the time! I talk to my family in NC, and SC and AL. while not the same as a warm touch or hug, it keeps the friend/family included.

Now, someone is gonna have to pass the torch, and pick up where she left off. Are you gonna share the duties? or do you have a natural in the crowd that was just waiting for her turn at bat? This may give another a chance to shine, and pour out love for all of you.

its hard to see friends leave, but she didnt leave in anger, she left filled with love. You did well my friend, you did well.

Sorry for your lost. The loss of a good friend is just like
loosing a family member.

She sounds like a person that will be missed by a lot of
people.

Part of my loss isn't all about me losing her but the reason why she had to leave. I have watched this man who I have admired through the years just disintegrate into such an invalid.

Also sorry your friend is moving away.

As others have said, Skype/webcams are a wonderful thing. DD19 moved 900 miles away to go to college, and, talking to her via a web cam is the next closest thing to having her here.

My 3yo nephew absolutely loves talking to her on webcam too. (his cousin)
