Default I survived my colonoscopy! (long)

My Doctor has been after me to get one and just the idea of a nasty "Easter egg hunt" made me cringe....

The prep was pretty easy: take lots of pills, drink lots of water or 7-up in my case as I am not a water drinker (it makes me swell up like a balloon) and go-go-go!!

I bought adult diapers just in case but didn't need them because I can still trot pretty fast.

Anyhow; I went in to the surgery center and the Nurses and Aides were so nice. I was placed in a private area, and the Nurse got my IV in after only two tries which was nice.

I was taken to the surgical room and asked to lay on my left side. They put a mask over my nose and then I woke up in recovery!

The Doctor went over the findings with me and I have diverticulosis which was so much better than I thought it would be so I am a happy camper.

I have a hemmorhoid I named Bob after my ex but Bob wasn't causing any pain or problems so he's still there.

I have some lovely pics of my colon so may have them on Christmas cards this year so let my know if you'd like one!

I really dreaded this procedure and was just so embarrassed about the "whole" thing but it was easy and I don't have to have it for another five years!

The worst part about the whole thing is normally the prep before hand! I am so happy they have pills now. sometimes they make you drink buckets of chunky goopey stuff.

Woo! you have a clean colon! I am happy its all behind you.

Whoa!

No more quarts of liquid torture? I know the man had one last year and he had to drink a LOT of the prep solution and starve for two days. He was going NUTS!

I've been dreading mine because of this. I know my GP is going to strongly suggest it this year since he did his while being interviewed for an article in the local paper......and he says all his patients get the talk when they turn 50 (I hate printing THAT AGE!)

Thanks for the information and I am glad to hear that everything came out ok!

"Everything is behind you now?" Hee hee...
It's a necessary evil...I am always relieved when I hear everything's okay...the prep is the worst part. Although I have always awakened during the procedure and it is not comfy!!
Glad you're okay! Good job of going through with an uncomfortable procedure...I advise everyone to do it...it really isn't that bad. You forget it just like you forget what labor is like

Good to hear you got a good report. I had one in 2003 at 44 because of some pain. I was told I have mild diverticulitis. Just turned 50 and they want me to have a colonoscopy soon to check things out. Bob, that's a good one!

I had one last year as my 12 month check up after the hemicolectomy, and apart from 2 small polyps, they assured me it looked lovely "up there"!

I think I'll take their word for that though, and next year I'll be doing it all again.

Oh joy!!!

I know I should have another, my Dad had Polyps, my brother died of colon cancer, but I woke up halfway last time, yelled "this hurts" and haven't gotten over it yet. It's on my list "to do".
