Default Just hit the switch- the heat is on

For the first time this year, I just turned my furnace on. It's the low 60's during the day and 40's at night, tonight might get down to the high 30's, when I got up this morning it was 54 in my house, I normally just bundle up in blankets, but couldn't get warm today, so the heat is on.

Any other Zonies turn their heat on yet?

Not yet! I did for a couple of nights a few weeks ago or so when it dipped down to the low 30s.

My apt stays warm though - mid to upper 60s - without heat.

I love these cooler temps though.

My house is still in the low 70's every time I check the thermostat. I did put a second blanket on the bed a few nights ago.

Not having a HUGE electric bill for a few months is making me not want to turn on my gas heater. Dumb, I know.

When I get in the 60's I will turn on the heater. Did notice on my gas bill that it is costing me $8.00 a month for hot water. All during the summer the cold water was so hot that I never turned on the hot water tap.

It was 53' when I left for my meeting at 10:00 this morning. That is about 60' cooler than a few months ago and I am loving it!

We had snow flurries today. (I'm in Omaha, Nebraska) and it's been below 30 most of the day.

It was 65 or 68 on friday and saturday here last weekend.

Omaha weather is weird sometimes. It was in the high 50's or low 60s on the Fourth of July.

we were using blankets while watching fireworks.

We had a cool summer, a warm fall, and now I'm wondering what our winter will be like.

We are up north of you Earl and we have had our furnace on for about a week now. Our temps are about 10 degrees cooler than the Phoenix area which is nice in the Summer but not Winter.

You can tell the difference between the natives and "snowbirds" very easily. The natives are bundled up in coats, scarves and gloves and complaining about the cold.

The "snowbirds" are in short sleeves enjoying the sunshine and warm temps and not out shoveling snow or scraping ice.

We have been here six years now and have thin blood now so we are bundling up and complaining about the cold.

The first year we were here we had to laugh at the Arizona wimps who couldn't take temps under 70 and now we are wimps too!

no furnace yet. Maybe soon though. We are just wearing more clothes. And a blanket at night, I love sleeping in the cold room.

But I have a gel bag that I heat in the microwave. Good for my cold hands.

It will be nice if it really does rain soon, maybe we will light the pretend (gas) fireplace!

me too! But not for long. I hope it rains soon. I love my fake fireplace.

Plus I bought votive candles at Pier 1 for 18 cents each. So with the gloomy day, I have a good smelling candle in a bathroom.

All the trappings of winter.
