not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but the amino acid supplement L-Lysine is excellent in keeping the herpes virus that causes shingles dormant.
When taken at first sign of an outbreak, it significantly reduses the active blister phase and seems to prevent further outbreaks too

I was told I need to go back every 3 years now, instead of every 5. So....

I also woke to my neck, jawline, and throat being swollen. my cheeks were puffy too. I was at the clinic for something else today, and stopped in to see the GI nurse. The GI MD showed up and took a look. Said he "scratched" the esophagus on the way down, and it caused some inflammation. He reccomended advil, and rest. Said it would clear up on its own.

The DH is riding the couch. He has been miserable. I want so badly to crawl into my jammies, take a nap, and watch a movie, but I have a house to run when he is down. Its always been either I am down, or he is down, but its rare that we are down together. It makes it really hard.

I want chocolate!

Sarah, During a colonscopy two years ago, they discovered two pre cancerous polyps. So now I am on the three year cycle too. My dad also had colon cancer, but they caught it early.

Did not mean to hijack this thread.

Hijack away! Colon cancer can be prevented if we catch it early, and are vigilant in our efforts. Who cares if you poop yourself silly for a day ahead of time! You get to go to sleep and have your fears erased the next day.

DH is still not happy. He is sleeping longer, and finally starting to take some pain meds. He is such a man that way. "dont need um! I am fine with Advil." and then...he whines for the next 6 hours. Sheesh! take the darn pill!

I have worked hard to get both his and my errands done, and today is a lazy, lay about day. Wheeeee!

The DH is starting to complain that his ribs hurt! He is on Valpro, but I am going to call and ask for maybe some zostix or something. You must know that this man could hack his leg off, and he would simply lean over, pick it up, and say "well, guess we need to have this fixed" and be on his way. He doesnt whine! Sure a cold will knock him down, but he can handle pain like the Marine they trained him to be. For him to moan about pain is huge!

His rash is red, and crusted now, but still is wet, so he is still contagious. We will miss out on several holiday parties that he was looking forward to. He is tired of this, and is complaining about cabin fever now.

My ordeal is winding down. My face is still swollen, and my cheeks puffy, and my lymphs up a bit still, but its working its way down. As for the raw heinie I had I used A&D ointment as a barrier and then used (dont laugh) maalox or mylanta as a rub on cream to my fanny during the height of the event. someone here told me to try it, and it worked like a charm! Since its the stomach acid burning, the maalox is an antacid and ta da! no more burn. No word on the biopsies, but it will take at least a week for those.

When can I have my pregnant cleaning girl back? When is it safe to expose others to my DH? Is it when the rash is gone? I think I am gonna have to take him back to the MD. Poor thing.

I believe it was Valtrex that the doctor had my cousin use. It worked wonders and she caught it in time which helped too.

Valtrex speeds healing, reduces pain, and helps keep new blisters from forming. Sounds like a good one to take if taken early on.
