The last little bit of our 2" dusting melted today...No snow for us. We did have some frozen rain yesterday and they are calling for more snow this week...mixed with rain and followed by sunny skies.

Is it wrong to wish for more snow so DD can stay home and stop bringing home germs from school?

You can have 12 inches of the one foot of snow we got yesterday.

It's nasty cold and icy out my front door.

I'm staying right where I am..wrapped in my banky.

I crocheted a hat.

With ear flaps, and with cute little crocheted chains hanging off the ear flaps so that I can tie them together to keep my chin warm...

The ties can also be tied above the hat (kinda like a deerstalker cap)

I used brown yarn. I think it looks cool.

I'm gonna be so stylish tomorrow. and my head and ears will be warm.

I should post a picture of the hat later.

Post a pic of the hat, I wanna see it. I'm still working on a shawl collar sweater, hat pattern is waiting till that's done.

We only got a dusting of snow but it got windy and cold. Could not keep the house above 62 even with the heaters blazing. My room was way coolder than that. I was up till like 3 am shivering.

Cold as it was outside yesterday, ol' Millie wanted out a million times. She was rubbing her face in the snow! I'm glad someone is enjoying this, and that she's feeling well - 10 yrs old and her bones don't ache in the cold. Good deal.

I'll have to post the picture of the hat later when I can get to the cord for my camera. I have two electricians in my room right now, rewiring the heck out of everything. (and I'm having a sinking feeling now about how the tv is going to be wired and mounted on the wall....eeek! I dont think we thought that far ahead)

The hat turned out pretty nice, teeny bit big for my head, the gauge is kind of off because I was using a hook that was probably one size too big. The yarn felt funky when I was crocheting it, but I tossed it into the dryer when I was finished. I think there was some sizing (chemical stuff that keeps the yarn looking nice in the skein) on the yarn, the heat of the dryer took that off and fluffed it up.

the electricians just left for lunch. I think they're annoyed with me because we didnt think all that far ahead on how the tv and the components (cable box, tivo) were going to fit. Now I'm worried.

I called dh about my upper heater - turns out it comes off the furnace line, and that valve was shut off. I thought there might be, for some crazy reason, a second valve in the basement. Didn't see anything. Tried for 45 mins to light that pilot, but no gas smell, nothing.

Anyhoo, the second valve was right in the bathroom closet, and now we have heat upstairs.

Old houses... what a hoot.

Erin - don't panic. I'm sure those guys will come up with at least one good idea about the tv and accessories - they do this stuff all the time. Or check out HGTV for ideas too. There are always things like this come up when you do stuff to a house - trust me. 20 yrs of doing stuff to a house.

I talked to the designer of the desk. She said that the way she would do it would be to run the cables for the components along the little shelf that's going to be under the tv (tv is going to be mounted to the wall) and then they'll take a little piece of molding (moulding??) and put it in front of where those cables are going to lay to kind of cover up the cables.

The little shelf isnt going to hold anything heavy, so I might put a couple of my Beanie Babies on the shelf to mask the cables too. I'll put the tivo and cable box on the lowest shelf of the bookcase, which will actually be on the Corian counter that the bookcase is going to be mounted on top of. (cooler there for my components) and then I can fill up the rest of the bookcase with books.

It's weird in my room. Both of my old desks are out of the room now. (I moved the second one all by myself!! Amazing that I could do that!) and my room looks HUGE! If I'd never had those in here, my room would have been so big. I could have had actual bedroom furniture.

It's freezing in here too. Probably because most of my computers are in the other room and arent supplying my room with a heat source.

My tv stand is several feet away from the wall where the electricians moved it, I didnt make them move it back. So, it's in the middle of my room. I've got extra power outlets now, and there's a hole in my ceiling. (electricians had to fish some wires into my room...cutting the hole was the only way) They put the drywall back in place, and the crown molding of my desk will cover that, so I might not need to do much carpentry work to fix the scratches and spots on the wall.

I definitely need to paint. I dont know if I want to paint in the middle of winter, or paint this spring. I might go to Home Depot and buy some of those little paint sample bottles and graffiti up a wall testing paint colors.

I actually kind of wish my sister were going to be coming home sooner. (she's changing the date for when they're going to move back here now...later than she thought) Otherwise I might have her help me look for a paint color. I dont really trust my eyeballs anymore for some colors ever since I had optic neuritis and had screwed up color vision for awhile.

I could get the lady who made my curtains for me come in and have her help me, (same woman has been decorating my aunt's house) but I dont want to pay someone just to help me pick out a color. (altho she could probably find me a good painter too)

I have been watching shows on HGTV to get ideas for my room. Saw something today that I almost wish I had. Saw a built in desk on a show that had a heated granite countertop.

Also saw a neat blue paint color that I like, but I think I'm going to stick with neutral colors in my room. (that way if I get ON again and my color vision goes fubar again, I wont be so depressed looking at my walls)
