I'm going to try whipping my today and see if that makes it easier to spread. I'll let you know how it goes. I just bought some yesterday at a local market for $1.49 a pound. It was such a good price. :)

Everything in moderation is so true. If I take a look at my diet, I really don't think I get enough fat so a little butter would be just fine for me.

Of course, I leave it in room temp at all times, it certainly does make a difference. I keep half a stick at a time on a plate right on top of the other plates in the cabinet.

Trish, yep, this is the best time of year to get a good deal on butter, it freezes just fine for me in a zippy bag.

I use a half butter/half olive oil stick from Smart Balance when I bake.

I fry in EV olive oil and use Smart Balance spread at the table. It doesn't have hydrogenated oils but tastes good.

I used to just leave on a plate on the counter and it definitely spreads well. But, since DD19 brought home that cat, I leave nothing on my counters. You never know what they are doing while you are sleeping.:eek: I need to get a butter dish. *tkrik writing note to self, "Look for butter dish at thrift store.":D

I have a dish on the counter, and I heard Clink! Clink Clink! Clink one night. I got up to investigate, and my 22 year old cat was working very hard to tip the lid off the dish. Poor thing. I wiped down the dish, gave her a pat on a dish on the floor, and went back to bed. I have a butter crock on the counter.

Cats love butter too! I actually decided to put the butter in a plastic container with a lid and just tuck in the upper cabinet next to the stove. My refrigerator is next to the cabinet and my toaster is below so it is all close by.

Speaking of cats and dairy products... our late cat Sweet Pea used to get a weekly treat. We'd go out to Pizza Villa and I'd have to order something that would go with a side of sour cream.

I'd take the extra home and put a tiny dot on a saucer for her, lol. I'd usually have enough to give her a tiny dot each night of the week.

It had to be Pizza Villa sour cream too, no other brand was acceptable. :rolleyes: :D She was a stringbean but that was the one thing she liked as a treat. ;)

I have one of those butter thingys that you fill with the butter and flip it upside down in the other half that has a little water in it. It keeps it airtight but it's still soft and spreadable.

It doesn't work as well when the woodstove dies down on a freezing night!

We love butter on our butter!!! When I did my shopping for Thanksgiving I bought five pounds of butter and we used almost all of it...:D

At the Utah State Fair every year there is usually a Cow craved out of butter...this year they had a Bull...now that a lot of butter!!
