Default I don't want to live in South Dakota

But every time I watch "Dakota Life" on RFD-TV, I want to live in South Dakota. Go figure.

I visited South Dakota a few months after I got diagnosed with MS. I really needed to get away. Since I live in Nebraska, going to SD was an easy and inexpensive trip. I've actually been there twice. First time was to go to Rapid City and see Mount Rushmore. The second time was to go to Sioux Falls to see the Falls that the city is named after.

Had a great time both visits.

First trip there, I also got a nice look at the only hospital in the middle of the state. I came down with a UTI the morning we left to go to Rapid City...we got halfway to Rapid City (Chamberlain, SD) and I was kind of in agony.

We had passed the hospital at one point, and had to backtrack to get back there. Found out it was the only place in that part of the state. Got a Rx and we went on our way. It was a fairly nice hospital.

I'd like to live there, but I'd have to either live in Rapid City, or Sioux Falls because I wouldnt feel comfortable living in a place where you have to drive for a couple of hours to get to a hospital.

The Badlands were really cool. Think that might have been one of my favorite places. The Indian Tacos in the gift shop in the Interior there were tasty. (fry bread, with taco meat on top...I LOVE fry bread!)

I'm partial to the Custer SD area. Badlands are cool but limited activity (although the idiot that tethered a cow, a buffalo, and a horse together was pretty imaginative). And ya gotta love Wall! And Deadwood. And I guess Rapid City's all right now that they have a Cabela's.

I loved Wall! Did a bunch of shopping at Wall Drug. I have video of the T-Rex. (there's audio, if it doesnt play, click the audio icon on the bottom of the video)

I also have video of the Badlands...

I won money in Kevin Costner's casino (the Midnight Star) in Deadwood. Won about $130. Boyfriend was a bit ticked about that, because he'd been playing that machine too. I tried to share the money with him. He wouldnt take it, so I bought him dinner the rest of the trip.

Keystone was fun too. Sturgis was neat. Boyfriend bought one of his roommates a souvenier at the Harley-Davidson store, and we went to a motorcycle museum there.

I liked Mount Rushmore, but I'm not a big fan of all those mountains and hills...

I think Custer State Park was where we were driving down a highway and just as we passed the sign that said "Watch for Large Animals On Road", a buffalo came running down the hill on the side of the road and just missed us. (ran behind the van) Wish I'd had video of that...scary, but cool to see that thing running.

Rapid City, Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, in west SD pretty good.

Drive through SD on Hwy 81 annually, though, on the way from KS to SK. Pretty dull and boring there!

Colder than KS; not as cold as SK! But, maybe worse winter storms.
