Default Why do I hate Verizon??

They refused to hook up DSL here even though both neighbors on both sides of me had verizon dsl.... When my Alltel plan was switched to Verizon my phone didn't work right for over a week.

Then I lost my phone on new years and I went to the verizon store to buy a new one...and was told no, that I had to reinstate the old alltel phone unless we both wanted to renew our contract a year early because we can't be on 3 seperate account networks.... So we were going to renew.... except, Verizon will be charging us an additional $15 a month to keep the same exact plan as we already have!!

So I decided to live with the older phone for a year until our contract is up.

Yesterday I tried to call my neuro... Ket getting an error message "Your account could not be validated please call customer service". But of course it won't let me dial out to customer service!

I ended up back at the store. Had a very nice young man who spent over an hour on the phone with tech support. We afre told I am not the only one having this problem, it is a network issue in Richmond (over 50 miles away) and that they are woking on it and it should be resolved in the next hour or two... This was around 11:00 am.

So at 4:30 when i still could not use my phone I called back to tech support on DH2Bs phone.... Oh, yeah did I mention his phone on the same plan works just fine?? I was told again they are working on it.... and then I asked if they planned on pro-rating our bill seeing as I had been unable to use my phone all day... and he got an attitude.

It has now been 24 hours with no service to my phone. I was waiting to her back from the nurse about scheduling my Ty infusion... and I cannot check my voicemail! And DH2B doesn't get home until after they close....

Which means I get to go back to the verizon store to complain today and then drive out to the hospital to check with the nurse about the infusion...

All because Verizon is a horrible monopoly of a company!

sorry about your tele problems. I have had a very good experience with
verizon. We always have reception when others are saying "can you hear
me now?". Its been our only cellphone carrier. I hope things start to
go better for you!

Dont get me started on Fairpoint! what a horrible rip off for a company they are!

I am sorry you are having phone issues. I have a pre paid phone that I use rarely. I pay $10 a year to keep it active. I live way out in the boonies, and we dont get a signal out here.

I think prepaid is the way to go, too. Both my sons have AT&T but have had Verizon in the past and seemed to like it.

You know, for those of us on SSDI or Medicare (or both) Safelink will provide a cell phone for free. And they update it each month with 68 minutes.

I use mine exclusively now and had my home phone through our cable company disconnected. That saves me about $30 a month. Most of my friends that I stay in contact with can IM through the computer so we save our long winded conversations for the PC. I don't miss my landline at all!

Dont forget Skype! even if you dont have a camera on your computer, you can still talk with the speakers, if you have a microphone.

I've never tried Skype but I've heard good things about it.

I'm regularly horrified at the price some people pay to have a cell phone. My son has one of those Iphones that has internet and everything (including those "apps"). I swear that phone should be able to perform surgery.....it can do just about everything else!

He can take that phone into a store and scan the bar code of an item and the phone will give him the price and the locations of where he can get it cheaper! He can also hold it in front of the radio when a song is playing and the phone will give him the name of the song, original artist and the closest store where he can purchase it!

I just don't know how I manage with my simple little Safelink phone that can only make and receive calls.

Kitty yours son's phone sounds really awesome and definitely way more technology than I could handle! All three of us have pre-paid phones and for $300 a year we have more minutes than we'll ever use. My DD is just getting into text messaging and not too many of her friends have phones yet. I'm wondering how long we'll be able to "survive" with our simple phones before we'll have to upgrade so she can text all her friends.

well......... 29 hours, 2 trips to the store, 3 calls to tech support, and one very unhappy me telling the store manager just how unhappy i was later.... Did I mention they made me stand for an hour while THEY talked to tech support?... and my phone is finally working again!

And no, they don't feel they need to issue a credit to my account for my lack of service! My phone didn't work for over 24 hours because of a network issue on their end... this was no fault of my own... yet, I am expected to pay for 30 days of service that I did not receive?

I think not!

Those of you who miss verizon please feel free to come to virginia and take them home with you!

Count me in the "I Hate Verizon Club." LOL I had been an Alltel customer for years (pay as you go & then one of their cheap plans). I loved Alltel, never had a problem and their customer service was great! Their plans were by far cheaper and customer friendly. Thank goodness I am grandfathered in for the next couple of years. Not sure what I will do after that.

I too had a lot of trouble with the switch over and they (Verizon) told me it was my phone (calls were constantly being dropped) and that I needed a new one. Since it was time for my upgrade, I got one. Guess what? The new one dropped calls as well. There is no reason in a city of 1 mil people that calls should be dropped.

I would certainly complain as you may have missed a very important call from your dr. Give them heck Legz! Oh, and I'm glad you have your service back now.
