Default Playschool

Used to have a Licensed Day Care Home. Loved it, but, because parents work a variety of different hours, I worked a 60-hr wk. Even with taking naps while the kids slept (against the state regs, but, oh well), after a flare, I could no longer do it.

Following 4 yrs of working for a school district, and a yr of being on disability (could no longer even handle the 30 hr wks), I have decided that I will open a playschool this fall in my home.

I will license for 6 kids (the maximum allowed for a home), and will be open MWF am's for about 2 hrs. I understand I can expect to be able to charge about $100/mth per child, and will be able to deduct a lot of stuff (percentage of mortgage payments, utility bills, food bills).

Am really looking forward to having kids/a business in my home again. Am employed one morning a wk at a preschool, but I'd like more hours. The $600 per month will keep me under the $700 a month limit that SSDI requires. I'll enjoy having kids in my own home again, being my own boss, and creating my own curriculum.

Oh, lol. Pre-schoolers aren't scary; they're fun. Remember "Apples Up on Top", "The Farmer in the Dell", Candyland, hopscotch, Mother May i, playdough, fish crackers and cheese?

You should be jealous! I get to relive my childhood, without the bumps and bruises and scrapes!

Sounds like a good plan, Faith! Sending lots of stamina vibes your way .

My mom had a daycare in our home for 16 years. Our most fun time was the 3 years we had 4 little girls when they were 2-5. What a hoot! I was a senior in college and they fell in love with my boyfriend(DH to be). He taught all 4 how to tie their shoes.

Looking forward to lots of fun activites like books, arts and crafts, board games/card games, and, like I said, "Apples Up on Top", "The Farmer in the Dell", Candyland, hopscotch, Mother May i, playdough, Hokey Pokey, etc.

Will have some structure, like a circle time, rotating centers (free play, games or arts/crafts, playdough or coloring pages). Won't have any trouble filling up the 2+ hrs.

Have fun and good luck. I could take a few tips from you.

I've been watching one toddler and it takes me three days to recover, lol.

She is getting old enough to sit through a book now though - and that helps. Last night, she asked me to read two - OZ and Cinderella.

And we love a good tea party.

All day would tire me out too. This will just be for a couple of hours every morning.
