Default Bonanza

What a wonderful family show that was, one with values boy thats a rare
commodity these days isn't it. I must watch some reruns via Netflix! Thank you for the news, condolences to his family. Being born in 1951, I always had a secret crush on "Little Joe" lol

I saw that last week.

Did you know that Jean Simmons died too? (she died a couple of days before Pernell Roberts did)

I watched The Big Country when I found out she died, and then I had a little Bonanza watching marathon (I have some dvd's, and it was on cable too)

I love old movies. It's sad that the actors/actresses from those old movies are all leaving us now.

My long lost love "GONE"

I can remember so well, when we watched Bonanza, I had the biggest
crush on Pernell Roberts.

Would even imagine being married to him someday and living on the
ranch. (my childhood dreams)

Everyone is getting older. We are looseing so many goooood actors
and actresses. I believe that there will never be a Hollywood like the one
that is passing away.

I have always had a 'crush' on Pernell Roberts too! I was in the 5th grade and Trapper John MD was one of my favorite T.V. shows! When I was on a family vacation in the Virgin Islands, we took a boat from St. Thomas to St. Croix for a day trip. When we were ready to set sail, my brother elbow'd me in my side and signaled to me with his 'shifty eyes' , implying that I needed to check out the person who was facing us on the opposite bench. When I got the courage to actually take a look....I was completely awestruck! Sitting right there, across from me - was my Love! It was Pernell Roberts!!!!! I could not believe it! I could actually lift my leg and point my toes and I would be able to touch him with my foot! Ohhh boy, just could not wait to tell my friends about my brush with fame!! Of course, I was entirely too shy to gaze into his eyes, much less ask him for his autograph or tell him that I secretly Loved him....I was only in the 5th grade and all, but I remember feeling really anxious and then I suddenly came down with the uncontrollable giggles.....you know the kind of giggles that you CANNOT STOP!? I could not contain myself no matter how hard I tried and then my nostrils started to flare in and out and the snorting and watery eyes began!! I proceeded to make a complete and utter fool of myself when......... my brother stood up and moved to the back of the boat!! So there I was....sitting across from my crush of all time, giggling, snorting with watery eyes and flapping nostrils!

So that, is my personal 'brush with fame'....even though I couldn't muster the guts to actually say anything to him, and besides the fact that I was a complete and blubbering FOOL that day, I always kept this memory near and dear to my heart. RIP Pernell... RIP
