Default February Blahs!

So the February blahs have settled in. It is another cold, dreary day here in Central Illinois. I just want to stay in bed every morning instead of going to school. Spasticity is worse. My students all seem to be suffering from it too. They are grumpy and many of them are skipping classes and staying in bed. So far I have only missed one day of work this semester. It was rather icy out. I am counting the days until Spring Break (mid March). Is anyone else suffering from the February blahs? Any cures?

I'm sorry you've got the blahs, Barb. I'm just weird I guess......because I like cloudy, drab days. I always have. I like sunny days, too, but I've just never disliked the non-sunny days.

Since being dx with MS and having visual problems the bright sun bothers me so much that I'd just as soon have a cloudy day (without the rain) as a bright sunny one.

Hope you feel better soon, though. Here's a little day brightener for you......

here its grey skies from october to April, and round about feb, we get pretty tired of the grey. I am having trouble getting motivated as well.

Look at pics of sun! Get a full spectrum light bulb to read by, or correct your papers with. Wear sunny colors. trick the mind.

Definitely have the blahs! Like Dejibo it'll be grey here until spring but I never get used to it. Once in a while we get a sunny day and that makes the grey days all that much worse.

Love the sun Kitty!

I find reading or just watching TV sitting next to a full spectrum bulb helps.

Yeah; sun is a good idea, or the spectrum light, like Dej suggested.

Also, exercise is good. If the weather outdoors is not conducive to exercise, try mall-walking, if there's a mall close by. Or, join a health club (not my thing, but some ppl like it.) The activity, and ppl around can be a mood-booster too. (The best I've got is Walmart. It works, but doesn't match a mall.)

If you are not employed, get out of the house everyday. I volunteer at various places (5th grade classroom, several nsg homes -- I play "dinner music" on the piano in one; love that!). Go to church. Watch a video with your spouse once wk, w/ popcorn. Get together with friends, or call them on the phone. Play a board game. Do a puzzle -- I hate em, but, again, some ppl like them.

Try some Saint John's Wort, if you think you might have mild depression. You can find it in health food stores.

Get rid of the February blahs! (I'm sick of winter, but, I'm not blah-ing.)
