Default Another Happy Thought . . .Young Love

As I posted on the Insights thread this morning, DD18 has a new bf. He seems really sweet, although, I have never met him. Anyhow, last night she called me and told me all about visiting his family and Valentine's day. Mine you, this is her 1st boyfriend. He did so many nice things for her this past weekend. It is so sweet and made me think of some of the nice things some boys did for me.

One in particular . . .Years ago while in nursing school I also taught pre-school. On the days I worked I would take the bus in to Phoenix to work. When you take the bus, you meet many regulars. There was this boy on the bus and he was a regular. He would save me seats sometimes and other times would try to sit next to me in the next seat.

On my last day at my job before summer break, I got a ride to work that day. When I went in to work they told me this cute boy came in and left me something. There on my bosses desk was a single rose and a box that said "Don't Open Until Your Trip." Of course, curiosity got the best of me so I opened it. Inside the box was my favorite cookies, candy, a note with his phone number and address, a picture of him in his Irish band (we're both Irish and that came up many times in our bus-ride conversations), and a box of wipes to use after eating the treats.

It was such an incredible gift and I always will remember it as so sweet and thoughtful. I never saw the boy again. We wrote to each other once and that was it.

So, what sweet things did someone do for you and/or you did for them in the name of love?

Where is everyone??? Surely this group did some things in the name of love......oh wait, knowing this group they probably can't be made public!!

I used to be a card sender. I loved cards. Why don't men like to send cards? I mean, everything is written for you....all you have to do is sign it.

My DDH was never one to do spontanious things like leave a card or note. One day I decided to put a note in his lunch. It was a lovey, dovey note but nothing inappropriate. Well, seems one of his co-workers got ahold of that note and for that whole week my DDH was called "honey" by all his coworkers at GM.

Kelly - That reminds me of what I did for DBF. He was going on one of his Harley weekend rides with his friends. As he was packing, I slipped in some lingerie (not giving details - lol) in to his bag with a note that I would miss him. He loved it! (And so did the guys when they caught a glimpse of it. He was the envy of the weekend.)

Wow...sweet! DH has done many things over the years that were special...can't remember any of them, but I know he did

When we were in Hawaii the first time, he was sitting out on the lanai. I came out and sat with him, in a jacket with nothing under it...boy did he love that!!

It was the second date with my DH. We were going to dinner at a nice restaurant.

When he opened the door of his car for me, there was a rose on the seat.

As soon as the car was started, my current favorite song was on the radio! I was all excited, telling him it was the one I had told him about last night, "One on One" by Hall and Oates. Turns out it was no coincidence. He had bought the cassette and had the song ready to play.

After dinner, he came in for a moment to exchange cards. He had a small gift. A rose bud vase in the shape of a heart for the rose he gave me.

It was sweet. He is still doing stuff like that.

When DH2B and I first started dating, I was having a horrible day at work. He was supposed to go somewhere for training with the Army (I think Maryland, or PA) and so he would be gone for our weekend. At the time, I lived 60 miles away and we only saw each other on weekends. I was a little sad that he would be gone, but the Army has a way of mucking up your plans, so i was getting used to it. Next thing i know, I get paged to the front of the dealership (I worked for a car dealership in the back back office/ windowless file room that used to be a storage office). I go up front to find my cute soldier standing there ready to take me out to lunch. Army plans fell through and they got the rest of the day off, so he drove down to surprise me.

It was great! Unfortunately, I had to go back to work after lunch... which meant driving all the way back up to DC that afternoon. But it was worth it.

In fact, our first "Real" date was ruined by yours truely. A normal 2 hour trip took 6 hours to get there, our lunch date turned into a dinner date. And he was on the phone with me every hour to check in and persuade me to come up even though traffic was horrible. After dinner and a movie as we were headed back to my car I noticed the picnic basket in the back seat of his truck. Apparently he had packed a huge lunch and a bottle of wine and planned on taking me for a picnic lunch by the river.

yes, this is the same man who's idea of romance was to buy me a gun for my birthday!
