Do they make such a thing as a one-handed walker or rollator that a person with a shoulder injury could possibly use?
My mom broke her shoulder today and is now totally unsteady on her feet. (partially due to all the pain meds they shot her up with) My dad had me go out and buy a transport chair at Walgreens to use to help my mom get around the house. It's easier to deal with than the ginormous wheelchair that she has for when we take her shopping on bad-knee days. I cant wait till my mom's shoulder heals, and I'm sure she cant wait either. But it's just nasty to watch her be in all that pain. Hopefully she heals quickly.

Yes they do make them. Invacare makes one called a hemi walker that is designed for people with mobility limitations in one hand. There are other companies too but this is the cheaper one. Unfortunately I can only find a listing for a set of two, which is around $75.
Here is the link: http://www.phc-online.com/Hemi_Walker_p/inv-6252.htm There is some great information on this page about them: http://www.medicalwalkersonline.com/hemiwalker.php Hope her shoulder heals soon.

When a friend of mine had an accident, she injured shoulder and arm (and a lot of other parts) - and they had some type of walker for her. (at hospital) There was something attached to one side to sort of rest the bad arm, like a tray. I think that healed sooner than the leg, but I am not sure if she took it off when she got better use of the arm, or what.

your mom might be better off sitting in a wheel chair, and scooting forward with her feet. if she sits towards the front edge, she can plant her feet on the floor, and walk while sitting.
They do make special walkers. look them up at medical supply places on line. I hope mom is feeling better quickly. ![]()

There is a hemi-walker as listed above and a quad cane(a cane with 4 little supports) with each you have to lift it, they don't roll like a walker. The hemi-walker is more stable but bulkier to lift, the quad cane is easier to lift. The other walker mentioned in a platform walker but your mom couldn't put pressure on the injured side, and it might be unstable because of that.
Take care, diana |

I swear I saw one of those one-handled walkers just the other day, but I can't remember where...it looked like a rollator, but had a black handle in the middle.

There's a local mobility aid store nearby. I might see what they recommend.
