Default sleep study

I saw a pulmonary doctor today that specializes in sleeping disorders and he scheduled a sleep study for my to test for sleep apnea. I am having it on Wednesday night. I will most likely have to have a second study if I test positive for apnea to try out different CPAP masks ... He said that sometimes they can do both in one night if you fall asleep quickly. I doubt that will happen as I have trouble falling asleep even though I take ambien.

Any advice?

Wear comfy pjs, bring your pillow if you're fussy about things like this, and just get through it... I had to go back to have a 2nd sleep study with the CPAP machine.
And I use the thing every night.
Let us know how it goes Barb...

I agree with Debbie. If you need your own pillow when you go on vacation, bring your there. Be comfy, bring a book, Ipod, etc. Also bring your patience along. I'm sure if everyone one of us who have had a sleep study told you how it was each one would be different. I did have 2 sperate sleep studies. I don't think I could exist without my CPAP now.

Recommend you bring your own blankets too.

I always bring my own pillow when I travel. I dont want to lay my face where others have been drooling.

Try to relax, and let whatever will be, be. I am glad you are looking into this.

Thanks for the advice. I will bring my own pillow. I was wondering about that because I hate those hospital pillows.

Also happy to know that you have adjusted to using the machine.

On my 2nd sleep study where they did it with a CPAP they took a lot of time showing me the different head gear. I kept each one on for 15 minutes and then slept with my final choice. My sister had a completely different experience and it was even from the same sleep lab. I don't know if different insurances have it done differently or not. When she went to the medical supply store to pick up her CPAP they had her try different head gear and that is where she made her decision. What she used to sleep with was not the one she bought.

The doctor told me if I do have apnea that they would be trying out different head gear and air flow.

I couldn't get to sleep and the tech couldn't reach my Dr. for a sleeping pill.

I wish they had let me try different head gears!

Good luck! Guess I'll head to bed and put my lovely mask on right now. It is SO sexy!!! (NOT!)
