Wow

I was sent to a state shrink due to the fact the doctors said I was depressed but I was not under the care of a mental doctor. Its normal for them to request this type of doc.
I hope everything goes exactly the way you want it to go!!

Ever seen someone's head explode? Keep watching!

I check the mail, no news from SSDI. I check the website, no news from SSDI. I call the 800 #, and I am told "according to our files your case is still pending and we have until may 20th to give you a decision". I call the case worker (the same guy who called me on monday to tell me a decision will be made that day).... and it rings and rings and rings and rings, no voicemail, no press 0 to be directed to an operator... just ringing. Ok, maybe he is at lunch (it is 12:45 at this point). It is now 1:45 and still no answer and no voicemail.

You guys remember a few months ago on the news there was a guy in Canada that took a disabilty office hostage? I totally get his frustration. I really do. I understand why people go crazy after dealing with the SSDI people.

SallyC 03-24-2010 12:57 PM

If you didn't have to go on SSDI before, you surely do, after dealing with them..:Crazy 2:

Legzz, a watched pot is slow to boil..you need to go about your business and do other things, or you'll go crazy!!

Well boys and girls I believe I may have found the problem. Today I got a response from the Secretary of Health and Human Resources for the state of Virginia.

You see a week or so ago, I contacted the governor's office about the problems with both Medicaid and SSDI asking for any help I could get in getting these matters resolved. They contacted the state Disabilities and Determination Services who contacted the Regional Director for Disability Determination and Rehabilitative Services, who contacted the SSDI office that has all of my paperwork. Apparently all of this was done last Friday.

Confused yet? I am. It seems my asking for help was a good thing as they now know that I am determined to have this matter resolved and I have no problems with going over their heads to do so.

However, this may be the reason that they have now decided that they are not legally obligated to make a final decisions until May. Which is fine. I will continue to wait in frustration. In the mean time, I will follow up with this letter in regards to the Medicaid issues, and also ask why no response was warrented to the statement that not one but two state employees on two seperate occasions told me I should consider having anothter child as it would speed up the process of determination.
