We get to the bus stop this morning after 2 days of rain and the road is covered in worms (there had to be more than 50!). I looked down and saw one by my foot so i picked it up and chucked it into the yard in front of the stop. DD 5 looks at me like I am crazy and asked me why I did that.
So I explained to her that the sun is coming out and the road will get very hot and it will cook the poor worm and he will die so I was saving him. Which lead to DD deciding we can't just save the one. After a few minutes of her new crusade to save the worms of the world, the other 4 children joined in. By the time the bus got there they had moved over half of the worms into the yard and out of the road. And I had to get the kids out of the road and onto the bus. The bus driver asked me what they were doing in the road and DD pipes up "We are saving the world! One worm at a time!" and she made me promise to stay and pick up the other worms. At this point the neighbor had come out to see what the fascination in the road was, I explained the worm situation and when the bus pulled off, he comes out of his garage with a leaf blower and managed to move ALL of the worms back into his yard. It was too cute. Shame I left my cell at the house, I missed some great pictures.
