A friend told me that some of the local banks have shredding days when you can actually bring a load to dump into their mega shredder for free. I've never heard this from my bank and it is still a little creepy feeling to me. Besides, for me, just hauling it all to the car is way too hard.

I do know that my bank will accept books of obsolete checks and I aim to do that with a few old books.

I got to the Ss last night and happened on a bunch of skiing equipment receipts. LOL, I haven't skiied in 10 years.

A local TV station here has what they call "The Great Shredder Event" several times a year. This past time they had it here in the county I live in. They brought their shredders to the baseball stadium and everyone could drive through and leave all their papers for shredding.

I understand the need for such a service........but I'm so untrusting of strangers that I'd be afraid someone would steal my personal info out of the pile of papers left.

On second thought, even if they did steal my identity they'd bring it back real quick. It's really not that great of a deal!

AMN - Last spring I did the purging of my employment paperwork, books and resumes and even my clothes. It was tough. I didn't loose 35 pounds though, I think I did something wrong!

Our burn barrel out back gobbled up about 2 boxes of old paperwork. I had to stop when I came across the kid's old report cards/school papers. Wow, lots of memories in those old files.
Gee, I didn't think AMN looked like she lost 35 lbs... *making eye appt*

Congrats! It will be alright. You did great!:D

Now...why did I read this thread.:(

I have boxes of every check I have ever written and paperwork, starting from 1979. Sitting there...waiting for me to shred.

I think I will get a hamster. Sure will have lots of cage paper when done.
