Default How random is this MS thing?

So I was online watching a movie and had left my instant messenger on when I got an IM from an old friend. It was a very nice guy that i dated briefly (all of 2 dates, before he dropped off the face of the earth) right before I started dating DH2B. We run into each other once or twice a year online at the same time. So we were chatting... and catching up when i made a comment about the MonSter and he had no idea I had MS. I have talked to him since being dx'd but I never told him. How ironic is it when he tells me his mom has MS?

It's true. We all know a guy who knows a guy!

My DS22 is dating a girl whose roommate has MS.....and she is only 26. She is on Avonex. He said he really doesn't see her (the roommate) very often but when he did see her.......now get ready for this.......he said she "looked pretty good"!

I ran into an old friend and once we were really good friend (you know what I mean.) Told him (after he gave me his cell phone number and said he'd "Love to hear from me." Told him I'd never call) I had MS. Never heard from him again. Now I remember why I knew I'd NEVER marry him. Little disappointed but not surprised. Oh well. One less Facebook friend.

yeah looking back at how my ex is reacting to the whole ms thing it makes me feel really validated in my decision to not be with him.

You know the weird thing is, I had one friend with Lupus, and another with Kidney failure and I was there for doctors appointments, ER visits, and dialysis visits. Of all the people I thought I could turn to when I found out I had MS, these were the first two to shut me out. And the friends I expected to freak out and run away have been by my side throughout this whole thing. I guess you find out who your friends are.

I have two friends that have stood by me through thick and thin......never questioned the way I was feeling.......only offer support. They are like gold to me and they both know I'd do the same for them should the situation arise.

Neither of them have any medical issues. The people I know who have medical conditions really don't want to hear about mine. Maybe it's just that they already have enough to deal with? Maybe they feel like we're in competition?? I'll see your leg pain and raise you a numb torso and the "hug". Honestly, I feel like that around some of them sometimes.

Good friends are precious. Hang onto them.
