Default Poll: Would you move?

If expense were not an issue, would you move from where you currently live?

It is funny you should ask this question. I posted the following at Insights over the weekend.

I have been trying to figure out what to do when I retire – move to Austin, TX or stay here in Illinois. There are a lot of cons to moving to Austin but a few big pros. Pros – being near my sister, niece and brother in law and getting to see Anya grow up, nice winters, great bookstores and grocery stores, good hospitals.

Cons – hot weather for about 5 months out of the year, higher cost of living, probably having to live in an apartment, finding new doctors and increased costs for out of state health insurance and medical costs, not knowing anyone else.

Can someone help me to make up my mind? I am retiring in two years.

I put I don't have a clue!

I could choose 1 option so I put east. But it would actually be NE of where I am. The year round weather is much milder.

I wanted to move several months ago. Thought an apartment would be much cheaper than the house I'm currently leasing. Well, it probably would be less expensive due to the fact that it would be smaller.....but I really like where I am. It's perfect for me.......no stairs, no hilly terrain. the weather here in GA is pretty good, too. It's hot, hot, hot in the summer but we do get a short winter and the spring is awesome. Most of my family is here in GA (at least the ones I want to remain close to! ) so I'll stay put.

We've always wanted to live in TN or NC. So south was my choice.

In a NY minute! you betcha! its a harsh way of life in the back woods on NH. Its always snowing, raining or youre being bitten by black flies if you ever get to see the dang sun! Dont get me wrong, its beautiful here! and the people are wonderful and so close knit, but...if money were not an issue, I would

move back to where I grew up. I miss my family sometimes. I miss my old friends. I miss the southern churches. NC calls to me so much in my heart. I have been seriously considering moving back there anyway.

I wonder about the healthcare tho. with CCSVI I guess I can just get my plumbing fixed, and move forward tho, huh?

At my age, I'll stay where most of my Family is, but if DD moves, I will deffinately hitch a wagon to the back of her car.. She would probably choose the Atlanta area.

Put the straight jacket away, cuz I'm not nuts, but I'd move north. Winters don't bother me when I don't HAVE to drive every day, but the summers kill me! I was thinking maybe Grand Marais MN...Winters are like winters anywhere else in MN, but summers they get cool breezes off Lake Superior that keep the temps down. Since they're on the north side of the lake, lake effect snows don't happen as often as on the south side. Besides, it's a beautiful area on Lake Superior, near the Gunflint Trail. I love the town I live in, but oh yeah, I'd move.
