Default Blonde Moments

I had one this morning. Put a load of clothes into the dryer, cleaned out the lint tray, pushed the button to start the dryer.......nothing. I pushed it again. Still nothing. Panic!! The dryer is broken! It was just working yesterday!! I'm trying to remember if I have the extended warranty on this thing. It's a Sears product so I know I can get someone out to fix it soon. I turn around to close the laundry room door but before I can close the door I have to close the dryer door.........DUH! I closed the dryer door, pushed the button and it worked perfectly.

What kind of blonde moments have you had??

First of all, I resent and resemble the Blonde remark. I'd rather call them Mr. MaGoo moments.

I look at it as having just another thing to blame my "moments" on. MS and blonde!! What a combination!

I used to tease my former boss with blonde jokes.

The joke I used to tease her with? Once I got a dollar bill in my cash register that said "How to keep a blonde busy? Over for answer". On the other side of the dollar, it said "How to keep a blonde busy? Over for answer".

I showed it to my manager, and she read one side, and then the other side and then turned it over a couple of times...like she was trying to find the answer. She did that in front of not just me, but a couple of other employees and her husband. (who was the store manager at the time) We all kind of giggled at it.

We'd do blonde jokes occasionally after that. She'd always answer with an "oooh you!!!!!" when I'd do a blonde joke. (sometimes I'd actually be directing the blonde joke at myself...I'm a brunette, but I come from a long line of blondes)

Sometimes now tho, I feel bad that I did the blonde jokes. That manager, a few years after we both had not been working at the same job, I saw her at a department store that she worked at for a few years...she was riding a store scooter. I thought she was putting it away. Apparently it was her last day at work, and she'd just been diagnosed with MS. She said she had bad fatigue and optic neuritis at the time. She might not have been having blonde moments...she could have been having cognitive MS moments instead. (I know I have those sometimes)

That was about four years before I was diagnosed with MS. I know there's one other person that she and I both worked with who's also been diagnosed with MS. Which is a bit freaky. We all had mononucleosis at around the same time too.

When my former boss told me that she had MS...I'd heard of it, but didnt really understand what it was. I keep hoping that I'll see her or her husband sometime, so I can talk to her about the MS.

My 'blonde' moment was many years ago. I'm not a good cook, never have been and I don't make any excuses for it. But I baked a cake and the outside was nice and golden like it should be but the insde was mush. Quite a while later when I used the oven for the next time it was the same. So being the liberated woman that I was I took the heating element out and took it to the local Whirlpool store and got a new one along with instructions on how to put it back in. So I put it back in, I was eager to see how everything was so I suprised the DH with another attempt at a cake. Same thing happened. Took the heating element out and returned it. By this time I was tired of taking the stove out from the wall to unplug it. Came home and put the second new one in and it was the same!!!!! Don't know what made me look but I glanced at the oven controls and it was on broil and not bake!!! So being the frugal good wife that I was I was not going to pay for a new heating element when I didn't need it. So out comes the stove again to unplug it, I take the heating element out and take it back. This time there were several people, as in men, in the store and I had to admit in front of all those men what I had done.

I am not blonde, I have darker hair, so I NEVER have those moments. j/k

My little housekeeper girls showed up Tuesday as I was going out to get the mail. They both got out of the car and we were talking for a minute. The younger one said "whats that beeping?!" I just smiled. She said "seriously, since we have been talking I keep hearing a beeping or pinging noise, dont you hear it?!" I just smiled and said "sweetie, you forgot to close your car door. She laughed and said "im such a blonde today!"
