Less than 2 weeks ago my daughter, Gina and I were in the beautiful city of San Francisco, CA. The temps there were perfect! I don't think it was quite 70 degrees during the day.
We saw the musicals Wicked and Young Frankenstein on stage. Took a bus tour of the city the first day, then used BART & MUNI (public transportation) to get to the piers to do some shopping, and also to the Japanese Tea Garden, where I took lots of pics as inspiration to landscape our large, weedy yard here in Utah. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory on the fifth floor of MACY's, where we ate out on the balcony (so noisy inside) and resisted the temptation to feed the pigeons (there were signs posted discouraging it). We nearly missed our flights both coming and going, but managed to make them both with only seconds to spare. (Got reprimanded in Vegas!) Didn't ever get to ride a cable car because there were people in long lines and they didn't seem to be running anyway. We waited in line until we could no longer tolerate the guy playing guitar for the crowd, hoping for a few dollars (he was awful!) We did travel across the Golden Gate Bridge (it is painted International Orange and is not quite a mile long, just in case it comes up in a trivia quiz), did some shopping and shared a lunch in Sausalito, then returned by ferry to Pier 41. Went to Ghiradelli Square and bought some choccy. Sampled it at a courtyard outside the store while we were entertained by an amazing violinist. Later we ate clam chowder in sourdough bread bowls. The funniest thing we saw was a guy who had "borrowed" a couple of branches from some leafy vegetation. He was seated on an upside down 5 gallon bucket on a busy sidewalk by the bay, hiding, holding a leafy branch in each hand. When some unsuspecting tourist walked by, he'd jiggle the branches and roar!!! Pretty soon he had attracted a crowd that made it a little more challenging for him to scare his next victim. San Francisco never fails to amaze and entertain me. The people are so diverse, there is always something interesting to see, and the temps are normally pretty cool. So, what have YOU done lately that was fun? It doesn't have to be a trip, it could be about enjoying your grandkids, but please: NO COMPLAINING ALLOWED!!!

The MS trolls in my head got jealous when they found out I was making plans earlier this spring for a weekend trip to a city about 50 miles from here to see a baseball game.
I ended up canceling my plans. Tried again to do the trip to see a baseball game over the Fourth, and again...had to cancel. (serious fatigue! and serious heat that weekend!) I wanted to take a trip to Washington D.C. over the weekend of August 28th, and decided to not go when I found out that D.C. is famous for being insanely hot in late August. (I really wanted to go on that trip too. Disappointed!) Yesterday afternoon, my boyfriend called and asked if I wanted to go do something today. It's really hot today, so I told him as long as it's air conditioned, I think I can stumble my way from the car into a building. I think we're going to a movie, but I'm not sure which one. Last night, the rest of my face started to go numb (oh come on!?! stupid MS trolls!!!!!) I'm super super tired today, sort of way off balance, and a little dizzy, but I'm irritated at the MS. I'm going to the movies dangit! Hope the movie doesnt give me vertigo.

Maybe you should highlight that sentence in red!
I haven't gone anywhere but haven't wanted to. I've been reading several books that I've just loved. It's so relaxing and I lose all track of time when I get engrossed in one of them. I've been learning how to fix fresh veggies in lots of different ways. Some really good.....some not so good! But I'm learning! Keeping my outside flowers and plants watered has gotten to be a full time job what with the heat and little rain we've gotten here. I'm proud that they are still looking nice, though. That's my incredibly boring summer so far. It sounds boring when I put it on paper but I'm content with it and I guess that's all that matters. P.S. Twink, your travels sound wonderful! Did you take any pics?

Thanks, Kitty, I took your advice!
Of course I took pics! Its just that they are easier to take than to post! Glad your summer is satisfying -- nothing wrong with that. Keeping those flowers alive truly a full-time job -- I live in the desert and they are very thirsty. My weeds are doing really well, though. Pffft!

Went camping in Lake Placid with my two favorite people, DD and DH. I loved being surrounded by the mountains while looking at the waterfalls and gorges.

Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Zion, Arches, Canyonlands, Glen Canyon, Cedar Breaks, north rim Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, etc. Southern Utah/northen Arizona. And Las Vegas. Oh, and had to go over to the tip of the Mojave desert to see some Joshua trees.
That was in June. Went over to see the shuttle launch in May in Florida. Went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans in February. Going to Michigan next week (the unofficial 70's Hines Park Cruise Reunion...). Tom |
