Default NASA up-date

Ok, I've been remiss about giving y'all updates.

Shuttle STS-133 scheduled to launch 1 Nov 10. Since we're scaling back on the shuttle missions I'm the only one in the Center Ops Directorate that's doing the mission manager job, so I guess I have to work alot for the rest of the missions.

STS-134 is scheduled for February 2011 and since I'm at home I'm too lazy to give you a date right now.

We're still carrying STS-135 on the schedule for June 2011 but Congress hasn't funded it yet. We have a perfectly good external tank that was damaged during Hurricane Katrina and we repaired it so everything's in place for the additional mission. The astronaut training schedule includes this flight.

We also have 2 additional external tanks partially into construction and an older version tank completely built that could be used but with a reduced payload so maybe..............

Transformers 3 movie will be here and filming in the Apollo mission control room (the historic control room) October 16th. I got tasked with coming up with a list of background "acting people" for the Center Ops Directorate (the operators that maintain the equipment). People really don't want to be extras - including me. Every Columbus day weekend we take down the site for major maintenance, and that's the weekend before filming. That's a full 3 day working weekend. None of my people really are interested in coming in the next weekend just for 5 seconds in a movie...

I don't know if I mentioned this, but I went to Kennedy for the launch of STS-132 in May. What a trip! We were as close as you could get (the causeway). My eyesight has still not returned to normal from the brightness of the launch.
