Default Did anyone watch the new Hawaii Five-0?

I really liked it! Reminded me of the cop shows I used to love to watch in the 70's and 80's. (I wasnt a fan of the original "5-0", even tho I do remember watching it)

Finally, something "new" that's not a reality show, and not a boring game show either...and even tho I love CSI, I was glad that it wasnt a forensics based show either. Just a good, entertaining action show. It was weird that Kono is a girl now. It was a heck of a lot better show than the CSI Miami that it was replacing in that time slot. (CSI:M is my least favorite of the CSI shows)

So, anyone else watch it tonight?

Now I just need to figure out how to record NCIS:LA and Warehouse 13 at the same time tomorrow. (the wrestling show that's on after W:13 always runs over an extra 5 or 10 minutes, which screws up recording the encore showing of W:13 on tuesdays, which makes me miss the ending)

Now if they could just do a remake of Magnum PI with Tom Selleck as Magnum. (yes, I know he's got a new show this year, but I just dont see him as a NYC cop...hopefully he wears Hawaiian shirts when he's off duty)

I loved the Jesse Stone movies based on Jesse Stone novels by Robert B. Parker. There were a number of them. He died in January of this year.

Tom Selleck was really good in them. I liked Magnum PI as well. I hope his new show is good.

Well I use to be a huge fan of the original 5-0, so to see them bring back the characters as totally different was not to my liking. I love the cop shows just hope they keep some. They always run them and then put in some stupid reality show.

I liked it too, Erin and I wasn't a fan of the old one either.

I still watch the Magnum reruns, if they ever put them on. Yes, Hawaiian shirts and short shorts..

There have been a few tv show remakes that I havent liked. Battlestar Galactica was one of them. I couldnt get used to Starbuck being a woman. (the original Starbuck was a womanizer and a gambler. Plus, he was played by a very handsome actor that I had a serious crush on)

At least with 5-0, they didnt get all procedural on us, and you have to suspend your belief a little bit (a police unit, that has complete authority to do whatever they want, including abusing prisoners...not in real life...but it's a tv show. I can suspend my belief and just watch the show for entertainment)

It helps that McGarrett is the cute actor from Moonlight. (Alex O'Laughlin is adorable! he's from Australia! I love all the cute guys that Australia sends us for our tv shows. Keep sending them!)

Plus all the scenes of pretty Hawaiian places. I missed that from all those years of Magnum P.I.. (I'm going to have to get the DVD set for Magnum)

I'm a serious fan of action movies. Fights and gunfights...I love them. Last night's episode pretty had all of the things I like in a tv show or movie. (well, except for sword fights. Love sword fights...I'm still a big fan of the Highlander series from the mid-to-late 90s)

I guess I dont need all the "realism" that some tv shows throw at us now. I love CSI, but I dont need to see someone's brain get pulled out of their skulls. (yet I dont mind seeing someone get "shot" on a tv show...weird!) I especially dont need any "reality" shows.

I watched it and liked it a lot.

I like the way the partners started out hating each other and then became friends. I also like the support cast, the one guy is from LOST and I'm sure he is glad to stay in Hawaii.

The writing is great, the cinematography is good, the action is fast. all pluses.

One thing that was predictable (not with the show itself) is that almost every commercial break has some commercial from the tourism bureau of HI. I wonder how much money this will bring to HI.

Now I'm watching Warehouse 13 and am all excited at how good it is tonight, but a little freaked out at a spoiler or two I read just before starting to watch it.

I just found out another show that I record on Syfy starts next week on tuesday. (Stargate Universe) and it's going to air during another tv show I watch. (NCIS LA) and I'm really wishing that I had a Tivo with dual recorders in it so I can record two channels at the same time. I have a couple of cable box DVRs, but I cant transfer recordings from those to my computer's hard drive like I can with the Tivo. (or burn DVD's like I can with the Tivo)

It really sucks liking a lot of tv shows that air on separate channels. (darnit...I think I missed Castle yesterday! I wonder if my cable box DVR got it?)

So was I, and I was probably 11 or 12 when it started...

Watching Hawaii 5-0 has made me have a serious craving for watching Magnum P.I.. It's on Hulu.com! (only 18 episodes, but hey! that's 18 episodes that I havent seen for about 25yrs...geeze I feel old)

http://www.hulu.com/magnum-pi

I'm having a Magnum P.I. watching festival tomorrow.

I love, love, love Castle!! He is "ruggedly handsome" and the chemistry is great between him and Beckett! It's always so complicated at the beginning of a new season, deciding what programs you like best and want to watch.
