Got a call from my doc today telling me my recent mamogram compared to past mamograms shows a thickening.
This was the new digital machine and she said it could be cystic as the new digital machines pick up on everything. So, she wants to do a spot check mamogram and if it is not more clear they will follow with an ultra sound. I know the spot she is referring to as it has been sore and tender. Should I worry? Well, I am anyway....but what do you think?

Knowledge is power...and these new machines are so much more sensitive...I understand how you'd be worried. What does "thickening" mean, anyway?
Keep us informed...

I had a questionable mammogram. Scared me a lot. My mom died of breast cancer so it was even worse.
Turns out I had cysts. They hurt when touched. Have had two questionable mammograms in fact. Both nothing. So do not worry at all. So relax. If it was really bad, you would have been told right away. |

I had a questionable mammogram, was told the doctor was concerned. Waited an hour, heard a million women leave with no problems. I was scared to death. Finally I got a sonogram and it was, like, never mind, no problems. Relieved yes, but first scared to death. Don't freak out before you know. It just is terrible and wouldn't help anyway.

Awwww,Karol, I'm sure it's nothing, but I'm glad they caught it, before it becomes something.
Don't hit me, but I've never had one.. I've had the old fashion exams but, no mamogram.

After Breast Cancer I had a few shadowy results, and was terrified! turns out it was nothing, but a fat pad, but it was enough to scare me. Try to not get ahead of it all, or you will make yourself insane. 90% of those "suspicious" things turn out to be cysts or nothing. Remember the time of the month we do a mamogram makes a differce as well.

Don't hit me either. I've done a lot of research on it and I feel this way is the best for me. Everyone has to do what they feel is right for them.

I've had three biopsies done. All came back clear. It is true that these machines pick up everything. Don't let it throw you. Try to think of it as a speed bump on the highway of life.

I wouldn't worry too much right now. I know so many women who get called back to do another one or an ultrasound and it turns out to be nothing. Hang in there and let us know how things are going.

I got a call back on the first one I ever had. I couldn't believe it and I thought they must have made a mistake when they sent me the letter.
I did have another and it showed a spot way back against my ribs, and because it was so far back they weren't able to biopsy the lump, so I needed to have it surgically removed. It turned out to be a small area of calcified material and absolutely nothing to worry about. I'm due for another one in 2 weeks time and I have no qualms about having it done.
