Default It never fails...

We're still doing our remodeling project. Just once, I'd like to have work done on our house get done without some sort of drama involving massive amounts of water or bloodletting. (well, there was no bloodletting...yet)

Painters have been here all week, putting up fresh paint on our walls...it looks great.

Last room they did was the laundry room. They moved the washing machine...and apparently disconnected a few things when they did that. They got the water hooked back up, but apparently they forgot the drain.

So, you can imagine what happened when my mom started washing clothes about 20 minutes after the painters left. At least the laundry room floor is sparkling clean now. (there was still soap in the water when it started leaking onto the floor)

Good thing tho, mom's washing machine is one of those that only uses about 5 or 6 gallons of water when washing. So, when the water went thru the a/c vent in the floor and came out thru the a/c vent and the light fixtures in the room below there wasnt that much water getting dumped thru.

I'm glad the contractor came out in a big hurry to our house and helped clean up the water. He's going to have to come back and fix the lights that water got into, and probably have the painters come and paint the ceiling and walls in the room that got water damaged. (which was the only room not involved in the remodel, guess it is now)

But, really, do we always have to have something dramatic go totally wrong EVERY TIME we do a remodel?? Just once, I'd like something to go smoothly!

My dad is at least happy that the floor in the laundry room is sparkling clean. We may have to use laundry soap in the mop water next time it gets mopped (which will probably be the next time the washer leaks onto the floor) We didnt realize the vinyl floor in there was white. We thought it was kind of a dirty yellowish color. Kind of a complicated and messy way to mop the floor.
