Default Oprah's Favorite Things

OK, I'll admit it. I'm not too shy or ashamed of it. I watch Oprah. Not all the time, but sometimes.

about 7 years ago my cousin was in the audience that everyone wants to get into, the show on Oprah's Favorite things. Where each audience member gets about $20,000 worth of toys.

This year she had TWO shows, both surprises to the audience. they are led to believe they are there for a boring show. then the cat is let out of the bag and the crowd goes nuts!

Friday had some good stuff, but boy what I would have given to be there today.

She started out with an iPad with wi-fi and 3G, and ended with something they haven't even SEEN yet, the 2012 VW Beetle, which is not revealed until MAY! they only had a silouette of it, and it looks much sportier than the current one. I think to total for Friday's gifts was $18,000 and today's were $38,000. you can go to her website to see them all.

NICE!

did she pay the taxes on those cars? remember when she gave needy folks cars and they couldnt afford the taxes because she picked such upgraded models for poor folks?

I too would love to win a golden seat in that audience of gift getting folks. I am no longer an oprah fan (used to be a big one) but always love free stuff.

I actually was in Oprah's audience on Friday November 5th with my cousin and two other friends of hers. We were so hoping that we would be in her 'favorite things' audience! We heard that the guest for our show would be Suze Orman and that we would need to be at the studio between 7 and 7:30 am and then we got notice that our show would tape at 11am instead, so our minds started cranking.....could it be? Could we maybe be landing on the favorite things show? That show normally airs in November.....

We arrived at the studio, still with high hopes of something good....and it turned out to be Suze Orman and............Octomom!!! Can you believe it? I mean really, Suze Orman would have been great and she was. But, Octomom? Well the show actually ended up being quite interesting and we are glad we had the opportunity to be in Oprah's audience. When the show was over and she was walking out...we were able to reach over the railing and shake Oprah's hand, so that was way cool!

She came back in the studio after the taping was over, kicked off her shoes and started gabbing with the audience and answered questions. She was so gracious and lovely.....I feel very lucky to have had this opportunity.

On Saturday, there was a Dr. Oz Health Expo in Millenium Park and we got to see him and Dr. G - Medical Examiner and during this 'segment' they did two drawings for a big bag of goodies......and I WON one of them! So cool! The bag had a couple of Dr. Oz t-shirts, an autographed copy of his book, a 8GB jump drive, a 5x7 digital picture frame, a Sony "Bloggie" (camera/video) , a $50 gift card to Sprout Restaurant and two Chicago Bulls tickets! I couldn't believe it.....I have never won anything before.

It was a great experience, and I fell in love with Chicago! I can't wait to go back next summer for another 'girlfriends' weekend.
