Dejibo,

It all depends on how you feel before, during and after plus what can you "SAFELY" accomplish in the traveling? I don't know how far you are talking so I really can't relate.

For my wife and I, if it is over 2+ hours, we always fly and pay extra for a nonstop. The key is to fly at off peak times, use rental car and hotel discounts. The whole objective is to save your energy to enjoy your family not getting to and from the celebration.

Depending how far along you are with the disease progression, not to mention the side effects of meds, possibly a long drive is no longer reasonable or safe. The term, "under the influence" includes medications Rx'd or not. Your travel time is the most expensive per hourly investment of both time and money. Not to mention energy allocation.

To me, flying "IS" the only mode of travel to accomplish all of the above.

I am planning to go alone, but meeting friends, and family once I get there. My DH doesnt get on well with my crazy lunatic family (go figure ) and I tend to go alone and save him the stress. Also the DH himself is one of my big stressors right now, and I could use a break from him too. :o

I feel like I am on the edge of a relapse so i am going to wait a few days and see what shakes out. If I improve, I will probably drive. if I stay on this side, I will fly. if I get worse, i will postpone. I HATE this stupid disease! I really really really need to get away and would love to see my family, but this disease makes it so hard. Perhaps I should pay for a more local trip and have my mum fly up here.
