Default Thanksgiving Dinner

Finish the following sentence:

"It just wouldn't be Thanksgiving dinner without _________________"

Listening to Bing Crosby sing White Christmas. My Mom always put that album on while she was cooking.

family

sweet potatoes and marshmellos, turkey and noodles, orange jello salad, fruit salad, my nephews barbecued ham, pecan pie, some one spilling some thing.

I guess one of my favorite memories of Thanksgiving is something my Dad did. He was a big cranberry sauce man and coming from Minnesota, he loved his home made rolls. So after Dad was done eating, he would take one last roll, and believe me we knew to always leave one roll in the basket, cut it in half and put a slice of cranberry sauce on it and eat it like a sandwich. With that we knew dinner was over!!!! Us women would clean up then and then it would be time for desert. But you had better be done eating when he ate that roll because dinner was over!!! I miss that so much. We still leave a roll in the basket. it usually gets given to the birds now. And they don't like cranberry sauce!

The celebration is all different for my Family now, So, I think I'll just have a brandy snifter full of Asti, give thanks for all and then maybe, if I'm lucky, eat some leftovers on the weekend.

I miss the old ways, but I really like the new. No hastle, no worry, no scurry, no hurt feelings and no clean-up.
