I think it's beautiful.......looking at it from here in GA (it's 31 degrees here and that is unusually cold). Don't throw an icy snowball at me!

Oh! I love "real snow!" I live in Richmond, VA and these people freak at 1-2 inches, close stuff down and raid the supermarkets like it's the last day on earth. They are predicting 3-5 inches for tomorrow and it should be interesting. That dry fluffy stuff that packs down to ice on the roads since the ground is frozen here.
Your picture is great! I used to live in Syracuse, NY and we would get 18 inches of snow, still go to school, AND HAVE RECESS OUTSIDE! Thanks for sharing the picture and you're right, no words are necessary, just click to blow it up and enjoy.

Oh, that looks cold! They did a good job on shoveling or plowing! Yeah, we have 2 inches and it's cold and they cancel school! We live in southwestern Indiana so snow is nothing new to us but snow days cut into summer vaacation.

I grew up in Canada, and school was NEVER closed, for me, due to weather. That was a foreign concept. And, we had 6 month winters with tons of snow. And, we walked 6 miles to school, uphill both ways, barefoot, in 60 below weather. (Not really. The 6 month winter part is true, though. But, it was 3/4 of a mile, in snow 2 feet deep sometimes, and 40 below + wind chill on top of that. And, we got to wear boots; didn't have to go barefoot. But, we did have outdoor recess too, like Craig.) In the defense of some of these school-closing states, though, they simply aren't prepared for snow. They don't have equivalent snow-removal equipment, and, because the weather isn't so cold, it melts and freezes, so they have a lot more ice to drive on than we did, which can be pretty treacherous. lol -- I learned to drive on ice in KS, not in Canada. ~ Faith

its hysterical when I visit NC and they get a dusting and close the roads, schools and stores. Last time the DH visited with me they had 2 inches of snow and they closed the city! I understand that they dont have the machinery to deal with the elements but dang!
up here, we depend on the snow for tourist traffic and we are quite good at it. We WANT snow, and we want it by the foot. The crews are out at the first snow flake keeping it safe for folks that are not used to driving or playing it it. So many folks come up here to ski and you see them at the gas stations shivering in their light coats, and no hats, no gloves, and sneakers. Sheesh! you would think if you went to the land of snow, you would at least break out a pair of gloves. We sell them for a dollar a pair in most spaces around here. Every year we have to rescue drivers who thought themselves skilled enough to drive in the fresh snow fall of 15 inches of snow before the plow drivers could get to their road. Or those who choose to ski on the black diamond slopes even tho its their first year on skii's. Winter around here requires preparation. Clothing, and common sense. We get the roads open really quickly, even in the deepest of snow fall, but we start with the main roads first. I am happy to box up snow and send it in your direction, but I bet its water by the time it gets there. ![]()

Beautiful snow, I love it in pictures! Used to love playing and hiking in it.
Are you in the UP or near the tip of the Mitten? Love snow removal in NC, road graders on the highway. Most dangerous people are the Northerners who think they can drive on the highways, not like home, they don't clear the road since it will melt by tomorrow.
