We had a great party, 3 couples and us - 8 people. Perfect size.

Great food, too much but it is part of the fun of a Superbowl party.

Appetizers:
*mini corn tamales (homemade from our local Farmer's market.)
2 choices - chicken/green chili or vegetarian mushroom/cheese
*homemade avocado salsa
*sour cream
*swiss cheese and cheddar cheese squares
*seven layer bean dip
*tortilla chips
*garlic hummus
*pita chips

Halftime Dinner
*prime grade steak (supplied by guest who owns a meat company)
*homemade rolls (me! I am the bread maker)
*tomato/lettuce/mustard/mayo/jalapeno cheese or swiss cheese slices
*deli sliced turkey
*homemade coleslaw
*spinach salad with baby tomatoes and mushrooms
*sides: chopped egg whites or chopped eggs/scallions/avocado
*raspberry vinegar/balsamic vinegar/oil
*kugel
*fresh veggies (mushroom/zucchini/summer squash/onion) tossed with
homemade orange dijon mustard sauce

Dessert - all homemade!
*chocolate bundt cake
*raspberry bars
*sugar free peanut butter cookies

I am exhausted today even though after a marathon Saturday preparation, everyone else helped DH on Sunday.

I bought lots of flowers. Best "left over of all."

I like football. Superbowl was fun this year with people that liked watching and not watching. One woman brought her knitting!

Just a party with lots of food and nice people.

For someone tho, who said she'd been singing that song since she was like 9yrs old, you'd think she'd have been able to remember the correct order of the lyrics.

I'm thinking that for any sports events or anything that needs the Anthem sung, they could just plug in an iPod with a recording of Whitney Houston on it. Then they wouldnt have to worry about it being screwed up by an overrated singer, or a sitcom star. (Roseanne Barr)

When I knit, or crochet while watching tv, I'm actually paying attention to what's going on. Doing a crochet/knit project actually helps me to concentrate on what's going on on tv sometimes.

by the time we finished the appetizers, I was really too full for dinner.

The refrigerator is full of leftovers.

@Kicker, wish you lived close. I would share the bounty!

I think I watched HGTV all night!!!! When the Colts play, I watch. Final.

As far as the national anthem. I'm like Simon Cowell. I don't like all the vocal gymnastics. I know that we all have the right to sing it the way we want to and put our own expression on it. But I don't have to like it.

DH was screeching about the media picking on her, and made the comment that "could YOU sing it in front of a crowd on super bowl sunday?" well, NO, but I am not a professional singer, who makes my living from singing songs in front of a crowd. Do these folks not rehearse? Do they not at least bother to look up the words of songs they dont know? Its our national anthem for silly sake!

The above link is the story of how he came up with those words, and what they are about.

I agree. They get paid to be professional.....and should at least know the words to the song they're going to sing in front of millions of people.

True to form, though, the media had to go way overboard about it. As if a million people didn't notice that she messed up!

I'm not a fan of Christina Aguliera. I think they could have done much better in finding someone who would sing the anthem. The girl from Glee was great singing America.

Is that the video of the wrong story told or the new corrected version? (Supposed to come out by the end of this month or beginning of March) I'm waiting to see how they corrected it. Even with corrections, it's still our true history of our flag and how the song was written.

And You are right Dej, there is more to the Nat'l Anthem, than just a diddy that almost everyone murders.
