Default |Another one (cleaning ladies) bites the dust

My cleaning lady started out so great! But on 4th work day, she didn't do 2 fundamental things (come on, one was a bathroom!!!!), another very important to me. So I called her employer, complained, refused to have her back. Getting a new one next time, if this doesn't work will try a new service. Why is this so hard??!!! DH's boyfriend (19) was here and he told me his working mom had trouble too getting someone to help. When I was a teen, a breast cancer survivor had me clean Saturdays and I was very young and cheap and she loved me. 20 years later I named DD for her daughter (loved name). My old loved cleaning lady now works for DH (I got her job) and wants to help me on Saturdays. I said no, I just like complaining to her as a pal.

that sucks that another cleaning person screwed up on cleaning your house.

our cleaning lady has decided to start bringing a buddy with her. They cleaned our house yesterday. What's freaky about that, is the guy that's cleaning with her seems to do a better job than she does. But, if she tries to send just him over alone, we're going to say no.

I doubt if it's a cleaning lady problem. It's probably a cultural work ethic (or lack thereof) problem. People now are entitled, they resent taking orders, and they don't think they should have to do the whole job to get the whole paycheck.

dont get me started singing the cleaning lady blues. my reschedules alot, drags her sister with her, and unless I am here to supervise seems to rush thru and forgets many things. She is very trust worthy and sweet, but sometimes that doesnt cut it. I have gone thru a ton of cleaners since moving here. its the one thing I treat myself too, and i demand that they at least do 90% of the job I would do for myself.

I have a friend who teases me that I pay folks to come clean an already clean house, and she feels its a waste of money, but I would die if I had to live in her nasty house. my feet stick to the floor, the poo and urine stains on the toilet make me shudder, and lets not mention how nasty the shower is. I would never ever ever take a shower in that fungus/mold covered thing. EEEK!

Good for you to ask for the girl to not come back. I demand that if I pay you for a good job, you should do a good job.

I tried a cleaning lady once and ran in to some trouble with her not doing a good job.

I have since moved and although DBF is here to help, I try to get things done during the week so we have the weekends to just relax and be together. This past exacerbation made it difficult to do that. So, I hired one of DD20s friends. He is awesome and does such a fantastic job. He will do just about anything and the price is right - $20. Of course, he enjoys visiting with me and adores DD20, her boyfriend, and hanging out with me so that has a lot to do with the price. He even said he would do it for free for me but I don't think that is fair.

Anyhow, maybe hiring a teen or college student would be an option for you. They need the money and some of them are really motivated to earn it.

when i lived in denver (35 yrs) i had a cleaning woman. she came to me when my folks came to FL. she was the best she was a cleaner, not a wiper. and, oh my, did she have a work ethic. she was very thorough.

now that i moved to FL i have a woman that my friends raved about. but she's not a cleaner. for instance, she does the bathroom but doesn't move all the counter things around and it's dirty.

so, i know what you mean. i think it might be a work ethic thing. i told her what i wanted when i hired her. i had a service (more than 1 person) here once. they did a fantastic and complete job. but, wanted $156! that was that.

just keep trying. i bet it's the service because they teach their employees how to do the cleaning. anyone you talk to ask about a housekeeper. maybe you'll find a good one.
