Default stupid doc of the year award goes to....

Doctor Darren Updyke of Mary Washington Hospital.
congrats!

Patient (me) presents with PPMS, balance issues, 4 compression fractures in spine, and a swollen ankle from a fall that took place approximately 6 weeks ago. Patient requests an xray and no meds.

Diagnosis- no fracture present in ankle, bone fragments on joint indicate there was a fracture at time of injury, ripped achilles tendon, torn ligaments, and excessive fluid in ankle. And fyi patient has an extra bone in back of ankle.

Solution- air cast and crutches!

Why does he get the award you ask? Let's see, I told him I am on morphine 3x a day. So he writes me a scrpit for vicoden. Which I give back to him and remind him I am on morphine. He decided to slip the script into the middle of my discharge papers.
and crutches... let's see, I fell bc I have BALANCE issues from ms. This is how I injured my ankle. Top this with the broken back and combine it with the 2 dogs and small child at home and you will get another trip to the ER.

I just wanted an xray!!

Sadly he is a repeat offender. He missed the broken l1 on my last trip. Same thing... just neededan xray. He gave me a script for percocet. I gave it back to the nurse on my way out.

Sounds like you need a doc to assess and treat you not medicate you. I guess that is how some people od on prescription meds. I am glad that you just don't take the scripts from the doc as gospel and gobble up the pills.

It seems to me that finding good healthcare providers is just as hard as maintaining good health. You have to be at the top of your docs game so you are not involved in a medical mishap.

Are there any drs. in your area who strictly specialize in foot and ankle issues? I'd try to find someone like that to look at your ankle. You could potentially need some surgery so the bones heal correctly. You must be miserable!

Take care,

Rhonda
