Default Have you ever??? (venting)

Have you ever lost something and gone INSANE trying to find it?

I lost an envelope a few months ago. It belonged to my dad, but I was holding onto it for him while his bathroom was being remodeled. It had something worth a lot of money inside it. I cannot for the life of me remember where we put it. Or exactly when it was that we had it. I think we still had it after Xmas, but now I'm not sure. The last time I really remember seeing it was when we were having our bathroom remodel finished and my mom got a new bed in her room. (sometime in november, early december)

I remember at one point, it was in the dresser tower that's part of my mom's headboard for her new bed. After that, I dont know what happened to it. My dad says that I took it again and put it back in my room. I seem to remember my dad telling me he put it somewhere in his room/closet after all our remodels were done.

My mom had a head injury 50something years ago when she was a teenager, so her memory isnt the greatest. If it was in her dresser and she decided to move it to hide it, she doesnt remember.

I do have the occasional cognitive problem, but it seems to be more of a losing what I want to say, and not part of an actual problem with my memory. So, I'm pretty sure my memory of things is pretty good.

I've torn my closet apart over the past month looking for the envelope. The only place I kept it when it was in my closet was my netbook bag, which hasnt left the house in about a year, and probably hasnt been out of my room in about that time too. So, it's not like I took the bag somewhere and lost the envelope. The only other spot I put the item was in my cookie jar, but it's not in there either. (I have actual cookies in there right now)

I've pretty much become obsessed with looking for this. Driving me bananas that I cant find it. I really dont think it was stolen by our contractors, because we still had it after they were done. I dont think anyone has been in our house since then. Our cleaning lady couldnt have done it because we didnt have her here for 6 months while we did our remodels, and the envelope was missing before she started back.

I'm convinced that it has to be in the house, I just for the life of me cant figure out where the heck it is. I think my mom moved it, and put it somewhere. It's not a regular envelope, so she wouldnt have mailed it to anyone. (it was similar to a ziploc bag)

You would not believe how obsessed I am with finding this envelope. I stopped twice while writing this post because I had ideas of where to look (unsuccessfully)

It's driving me insane! I need to stop and give up and assume that my mom hid it in an rip in the space time continuum or that it was stolen somehow. Maybe if I give up, it'll suddenly appear. (probably in some spot that I've searched 10 times)

It's giving me a headache. At least I'm kind of giving myself a little "physical therapy" by doing all the moving around looking for it...and occasionally finding something I lost. (my silver cleaning cloth...yay! now I can shine my jewelry)

Do you remember my Netflix envelope? it was RED! and always put in the same spot when they come into the house. I paid for its loss, and then almost a year later finally found it stuffed in the basement with photos.

Losing stuff is common place for me now.

The envelope we're missing is red! and it's kind of a see-thru envelope.

You'd think I'd be able to find it.

I was dreaming about it last night, and I couldnt find it in the stupid dream either!

Just stop looking....and it'll turn up. Happens every time I lose something.

I really think my mom hid the envelope, which means we're never going to find it.

Did you look under and inbetween the mattresses on the new bed....in or between the bed slats??? In the laundry?

That's a good idea, looking under the mattress. If I can manage to lift it I'll look.

I did just ask my mom a hypothetical "where would you put it?" question. She said she would hide something in the closet, in clothing she hardly ever wears. Thank goodness we havent given anything to goodwill since last summer.

I think it's time to do a massive cleaning of the house again. Time to declutter and go thru all the pockets of everything I can find. Might not actually declutter, but I think we need to reorganize everything again.
