Now Come on, Jack isnt just any cat. I think most of the ladies here have adopted him as the mascot of the circle. We have prayed with him, stayed with him, cried about him, and worried about him as he has ridden out one of the most horrible diseases known to cat men everywhere. Lily has waited patiently for her buddy to return. They were caught cuddling last night! Just a cat pffft....have you no clue man?! Jack is super cat! he can pee in the toilet! lol

Most people, except a very few fortunate ones such as yourself, realize cats are not terrestrial. How can they be with such a wide range of perceptions, emotions, cunning, intelligence all while appearing to most humans as simply "cute."
Ever tried to follow a cat to see where they go at night? Impossible to do. How do cats know if you don't let them out in the morning that running their paw up and down the old aluminum blinds would "get your attention?" And when they get on the back of the chair and start licking your head, they know to stop you from moving by digging their claws into your scalp. Explain all that to me. You don't even see this behavior by the "alleged" cats in the wild. Therefore, in looking at the pictures of your cats some would say, "how cute," while others know the truth and can say from experience, "They're cats!" Those two simple words speak volumes to those who know and understand.

None of our cats has ever licked or groomed our hair, scratched our scalps, or other weird things.
One can train a cat a bit while still young, but they do not depend on humans like dogs do and need. All of our cats have followed us on hikes and around the yard however. They enjoy being outside WITH us... and are great companions. One invites a cat into his/her lap... does not command this tho. Owning a cat is a parallel experience. Respect their needs and feelings and they will love you with unswerving loyalty. They WILL come when called, and enjoy playtime too. They will choose the play type however. Our new kitten relishes fetching toys. But she has chosen which is her favorite. She has chosen BLACK twist-em ties. She will go for pipecleaners, but not like the black ones. I had some in a pen cup...on my desk and she pulled one out. That was IT. She is also carrying around a small square of bubble wrap...6 inches on a side. She has been moving it around for days! We think it feels good on her teething gums...or there may be a more obscure reason that is only feline! ( She took it from me while I was boxing up something to mail. ) Cats learn language if talked to simply with consistency. It has been my experience that people who dislike cats have only had experience with unfriendly ones, or neurotic ones. A good cat is a treasure IMO. It is my observation that personalities that tend toward commanding a pet and leading..will choose dogs. Dogs can become very dependent on humans. Personalities that enjoy parallel activity with a pet and enjoy inviting the animal into their lives, choose cats. While cats may be very loyal, and even notice when you are ill, they retain their own identity and are not so dependent all the time.

All my cats have been trained to come when you call their name. If you call Lily, its Lily that shows up, and not Jack. They are taught simple commands. STOP (cats HATE this command, and its counter instinctual, but it can be done. They will hunker down and be upset, but will stop. They have learned to be brushed, and like it. They have learned that nail care is a must here. Also teeth are to be examined by your human, like it or not. We have good claw manners in this house, and we dont pluck furniture. We have trees and scratchers for that. If not we have a water bottle or a can with rocks in it that makes a very loud noise.
btw, if you want to know where your cat is at night, plug in an electric blanket, and you wont have to look far. They WILL eat that nasty prescription food when it reaches about 10 days of protest and they realize that nothing else is appearing out of the kitchen. It is tempting to think they are starving to death and plop out the junk food, but that will set you back many days. I have really enjoyed Jacks company when he is well. He is sweet, funny, and entertaining. He thinks he is tiny, when in fact he is 18 pounds, long and tall. Lily is 9 pounds and short and squatty. He thinks he is her match but when he comes dancing sideways thru the living room, he knocks over furniture, and bangs into doorways. My cats are allowed to be cats. They have the sweet life here. Of course, Jack is a rub-a-holic, and Lily would play fetch 24 hours a day if you let her. I have to hide the toy so she will sleep at night. Thanks for loving my kitties with me. We have been thru alot together.

Name one other animal that has all of those abilities. I don't know of any to be honest with you. You have just made my point that cat's are totally unique pets in just about all respects. Case closed.
